Nintendo shuts down Kickstarter over Animal Crossing IP infringement

Don't mess with the Big N

A Kickstarter recently surfaced that was looking to pull in £1,000 for the above "New Adventures Passport Travel Holder." As you can see, the product includes a lot of imagery that is extremely close to that of Animal Crossing. Looks like it was close enough for Nintendo to swoop in and shut things down.

The Kickstarter managed to amass £34,000 before being closed, but it seems like the project now has little chance of ever seeing release. The entire campaign is over, and visiting the page will now give you the following message.

"New Adventures Passport Travel Holder is the subject of an intellectual property dispute and is currently unavailable."
There's likely no way for this campaign to return, unless it completely changes up its design. People were buying this in the first place due to the Animal Crossing-like imagery, so I don't think they'd be willing to cough up the cash for a completely different design.
