Code of Princess being removed from the 3DS eShop on March 31st, 2020

Farewell, my lady

Code of Princess, an action RPG that hit 3DS all the way back in 2012, is soon going to be removed from the 3DS eShop, Atlus has confirmed that the game is being yanked on March 31st, 2020, so you better scoop it up now if you want a copy. Remember, Code of Princess EX is available on Switch right now, and as far as we know, it's not getting pulled.

Another case of a game getting mysteriously removed and just so happens to once again have a connection to Nicalis.

It seems like with streaming everyone just buys the license to a digital good rather than own it forever.

I do wonder, have we reached the point were a really old game is public domain? Pong maybe?

At least they gave notice.
Most devs/pubs don't even bother with that - the game just vanishes silently.

I've never understood this because the dev/pub could make a few more sales given people will panic buy if they recognize the game will be gone forever soon.

To be clear, Nicalis is not the publisher of the removed 3DS version, just the Switch version.
I just think it's noteworthy that they have a connection to these sort of shenanigans again.
