GN Version 5.0

We've already shared the news of Animal Crossing: New Horizons selling over 1.8 million physical units in Japan for its first week, which is a new record for the Switch. Consumers were scooping up the game like crazy, and it seems to be doing even better than Nintendo imagined.

According to numbers from Dengeki, that 1.8 million units sold equates to 90% of the game's initial stock in Japan. You would have to imagine that means physical stock is going to be hard to come by very soon, unless Nintendo already has a new shipment in the works.

For comparison's sake New Leaf sold 559k in its first week in Japan, and eventually hit 4 million sold in its lifetime.
