E3 2021 locked in for June 15th to 17th, 2021, show will be "reimagined"

Is it too early to get on the hype train?

While E3 2020 has been called off in the traditional sense and we await details on what kind of online presence the show will have, the ESA is already looking to 2021. They've announced that E3 2021 already has already been dated, and it's taking place June 15th to 17th, 2021. The ESA also says that E3 will be 'reimagined' for next year's show, but no details were given on what that means.

Why have it at all? Everything is all out online immediately and most of the devs and publishers stream their stuff to show the fans. Video games are mostly digital, why do we need a physical "event" that only a few people can attend anyway? It just seems like it's more for the gaming "press" then for fans or developers.

If it's the "influencer-oriented" stuff I was hearing about earlier, just count me out.
