eBay sellers are making thousands of dollars selling virtual items for Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The Animal Crossing economy

Need a bit of extra cash? Looks like you can make a considerable amount of bank by selling Animal Crossing: New Horizons in-game items on eBay.

A number of listings have popped up on eBay showcasing all sorts of in-game items to buy. By far, the most popular items include ways to make bells extremely quick. For example, one listing is selling stacks of gold nuggets worth for $13.50, which will equate to 6 million bells in-game. This user has sold 366 lots so far, meaning they've made just shy of $5k.

As you might suspect, these sellers are most likely getting their items by hacking the game, and then turning around to sell the ill-gotten goods via eBay. I'm guessing Nintendo isn't too happy about all of this.

When Developers don't put microtransactions in games capitalism goes grassroots

Very true. If people are willing to buy, why not sell?
