It's crazy to think that new details on the original Pokemon games are being unearthed all these years later, but here we are. Dataminers are currently digging through the source code for Pokemon Blue and Yellow, and they've made some seriously interesting discoveries. The biggest talking point is Pokemon Pink, a companion game to Pokemon Yellow that was apparently scrapped.

The source code for Pokemon Yellow in particular has multiple references to Pokemon Pink, which most likely would have been yet another companion game to hit the Game Boy. There aren't details on what the game would have featured, but speculation is that Clefairy or Jigglypuff would have been the star Pokemon.

Along with that, Pokemon Yellow's source code also has a number of audio files straight from the Japanese anime. These files are the Pokemon cries from the animated series, which would point to more than just Pikachu having his anime cry in-game. Masuda has famously said that getting Pikachu's anime cry in the game caused quite a headache in terms of quality, so it's not hard to imagine making room for other cries was scrapped early on.
