A good amount of today's games seem to put a huge focus on realism and immersion, but the gang behind DOOM Eternal had another approach. They want to make sure you're having fun when you play. They worked hard to create a game that allows you to enter the "fun zone," according to developer Hugo Martin.

In an interview with Polygon, Martin discusses the game's careful balance, and how everything is crafted to help bring you into the fun zone.

“We want you to be tactically aggressive. It’s not about being aggressive all the time because then that would go back to a single repetitive action. Knowing when to be aggressive and exactly how to be aggressive is going to lead to the most engaging experience possible. And engagement is the whole point of the fun zone.”
