GN Version 5.0

Just a few days back, we made mention of an unofficial port of Super Mario 64 to the PC. This was a reverse-engineered version of the game that didn't need an N64 emulator to play. It was simply an executable that you could download and play. Many suspected Nintendo would swoop in on this project quickly, and that's exactly what they've done.

Nintendo's lawyers have swooped in to hit Google and YouTube with copyright complaints and takedown notices in an attempt to scrub the internet of the project. As you know how the internet works, it'll be hard to yank this file off the internet completely, but Nintendo is doing their best to make sure the fan port becomes extremely hard to find. The team behind this port had to know Nintendo would take issue with it, which makes you wonder why they went so public with it.
