Mario and Luigi receive an invitation from Princess Peach for the Origami Festival. The pair arrive at Toad Town in high spirits....but what happened? There's no one around. Thinking that something is off, Mario heads to Peach's Castle.

There he runs into Peach...who has been turned into origami! An origami figure appears and introduced itself to a shocked Mario. "I am the king of Origami Land! King Ori!" King Ori wants to fold Mario's friend and change the world to create the Origami Kingdom.

When he announces that, huge tape came out of nowhere and connected Peach's Castle to the top of a far mountain. Mario teams up with King Ori's younger sister, Oribia, and even sometimes receiving help from Bowser's minions.

In order to stop King Ori's plans, they head towards Peach's Castle.
