Today, on this very day, the Dragon Quest series has turned 34 years old. The series debuted all the way back in May 1986, and it's still going strong here in 2020. To celebrate the occasion, Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii shared a tweet with some thoughts, as well as a screenshot of the original game running on Switch. You can see his tweet, as well as an English translation below.

I'd like to say thank you on Dragon Quest's 34th birthday. Back then, I tried to think of what would we could have the Dragon King say to most surprise players when they finally met him. We settled on "Join forces with me and I will grant you dominion over half of this world!" For me, between that moment and the character 'Yasu' turning out to be the villain in my other game, there are a lot of memories to look back on.

A huge thank-you to Styster for working on the translation for us!
