GoNintendo Thought: What are you playing this weekend?

What's on your slate?

Thought I'd bring back an old Friday feature for today's post. Will it be a weekly thing? I'm not sure...I guess that all depends on you guys! If you like talking about what you've been playing, then I'll keep checking back in every week! As always, thanks for reading.

It's the end of another work week, my friends. Congrats on making it through! I thought I'd drop in to see what you guys plan on playing this weekend. Of course, I'll share what I'm getting into as well. Or at least, what I plan to get into. You know how the weekend tends to disappear in the blink of an eye, so who knows what I'll actually get to!

Some of you know that I'm a huge fan of Shantae, which is why you might be surprised to hear that I haven't spent too much time with Shantae and the Seven Sirens. That's not because I'm uninterested, of course! I've just been super busy with work in general, and there's been very little free time to spend on games. All I can tell you is that Shantae and the Seven Sirens is at the top of my list, and I plan to make some decent headway into the game. I can't wait to dive back in!

I've also been playing RUINER for review, and I made some decent progress last night. I'd love to tell you more about that, but unfortunately I am under embargo. I'll be bringing you a review of the game late next week. All I can say right now is that I'm very excited to share my thoughts!

Hardly a week goes by where I'm not playing Friday the 13th: The Game Ultimate Slasher Edition. It's been such a blast to play with friends. We do our best to get a sizable group together when we play, which always leads to a ton of stupid fun. Whether I'm playing as Jason or a counselor, I'm always having fun with this one. I've been really shocked with just how engaging this one is after putting 60+ hours into it. With the right people and online play, you're always in for a great time.

One last game I want to get time in with this weekend is Horizon Zero Dawn. I had been playing the title awhile back, but I eventually grew tired of it. There was something about it that was bogging down the journey for me, but I could never put my finger on it. I was into the story, and I wanted to keep playing for that reason, but I eventually felt like playing was more of a chore than an activity I was enjoying. Seeing the sequel announced for PS5 has made me want to give things another go. Perhaps I'll find more fun the second time around.

That's what I plan on playing this weekend. Who knows, maybe some other titles will find their way into my list. What are you looking to play over the next couple of days?

I really need to give Horizon another chance too. I played it right after BotW and it just fell so short of that game for me that I just couldn’t get into it. I think I’d have enjoyed it a lot more if I played it before Zelda.

I just got done with Bioshock Infinite on Switch and I’m about to start off the Burial at Sea DLC. I’ve never fully played through the trilogy before but the Switch has been a great place to do so- these ports are fantastic. Really enjoyed each game but I do have several issues with them, definitely a bit overrated on the whole in my eyes (especially the first game). Still, they’ve all been worth a playthrough for sure.

I dropped off of Horizon for a bit after getting out of the first area. It was just so overwhelming. But after a break I went back and had an absolute blast with it. You just can’t expect it to be Breath of the Wild. That’s a lofty expectation.

Hopefully I’ll get a little more time with Shantae as well. Work has been keeping me so busy though.... I tend to find only a little time for Animal Crossing and a few Mortal Kombat 11 towers.

Lately I've been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Shadow of the Colossus, DOOM 64 and a little Super Mario Maker 2.

I had been playing Pokemon Shield off and on in short bursts since it released but I think I have finally reached the point where I just don't want to play it anymore and I'm not going to finish it.

Continuing my Xenoblade adventure... when I find time for it...

Gonna be a while before I get to Shantae though; bought the physical version from Limited Run...

I'm feelin' ya. I wanted to write the exact same comment.
Waiting for the LRG version of Shantae while playing Xenoblade.

(Updated 1 time)

I'm playing RE2 Remake on PS4 and GTA V on PC. Waiting for Catherine Full Body on switch and Ghost of Tsushima on PS4 next month. Still have a lot of games I haven't beat yet.

I'll be finishing up Jedi Fallen Order. Had low expectations going in so I was pleasantly surprised, it's a pretty good game.

I had low expectations too but I just finished it a few weeks ago... man, I don’t know why I let that game slip past me last year! I enjoyed it so much. Had it’s fair share of issues but it’s just one of those games where its flaws never affected my enjoyment of it. Can’t go wrong with mixing Star Wars and Metroid Prime 3!

Same here! Definitely my favorite thing to come out from Disney-era Star Wars since Rogue One.

I haven't played the original Paper Mario since I rented and beat it as a kid two decades ago, so I've been mostly playing that lately via my WiiU. It's still fun. Sinking all my game time into that pretty much. Will likely do the same for TTYD sometime after PM64, considering I've also not touched that since I beat it 16 years ago.

I will continue playing through Death Stranding as well as going through all of the side quests in Horizon Zero Dawn

I just finished my first run of Shantae and the Seven Sirens! For me it was a bit better than Half Genie Hero, and the writing had me in stitches without being overly-memey like HGH was - and I enjoy a good meme & reference! I hope you're able to sink in a lot of time into it this weekend. I got lost for about 2 hours trying to find one last collectable for 100%, otherwise my time would have been shorter than the just-past the 10 hour mark I clocked in at. It's really, really good, and I'm pleasantly happy to report that my initial concerns about it being too basic were unfounded.

I'm trying to get ready for the Pokemon expansion pass, so I'm probably gonna try to drop in a few hours on Shield and HOME to get ready. I've been aiming for about a month now to get back into Spider-Man to clear out the DLC so I can make space on my PS4 for other games, so maybe I'll be able to do that too. I'm still playing Clubhouse Games 51, and it would be great to get paired up in a game of Friday the 13th with y'all sometime too. There's not much the Switch can't do that isn't fun.

Don't forget Backlash is this Sunday too!

Xenoblade Chronicles is a go for me most of the weekend. Played a little American Fugitive.

I'm slooooow so all the games I'm playing came out last year (; v ;)

Chipping away at Astral Chain and its endless list of orders and cases.

The path of the Anime Cop is long and full of a surprising amount of Things That Aren't Stand Battles. (And Also Stand Battles.)

I'm knee-deep in my quest to 100% and platinum all of the Yakuza games. Currently, I'm about 50% through Yakuza 4 and plan to knock out my legendary playthrough of the game over the weekend.

Every day when I boot up my switch to do my Animal Crossing chores I see Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, just waiting for me to start playing it. But I know that slippery slope all too well and I'm holding off till I no more games on my plate.

I will be playing Luigi's Mansion 3 :-) I think I have 3 more levels to go.

Animal Crossing New Horizons, Last of Us Remastered, Street Fighter V, Mario Kart Tour.

BOTW has changed how I view open world games. Nintendo did something amazing there. Genius even. I have a hard time playing other open world games after BOTW, so it should be the new standard now. And Ghost of Tsushime sure looks like it had some inspiration from it.

Personally been playing Death Stranding, Real Bout Fatal Fury and Animal Crossing.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Xenoblade: Definitive Edition
Pokemon Sword
Dragon Quest 11 S: Definitive Edition
Bioshock Collection
Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics
Borderlands Collection
Shantae: Seven Sirens
Darksiders: Genesis

My Switch backlog is too huge. But knowing me I wont know what to play and end not playing anything other than Animal Crossing.

My Switch backlog is too huge.

Your not alone on that one, buddy! Smile But hey, with my 13+ consoles my backlog is so big I might not need to purchase a new game in years =)

I only own a Switch and PS4. I sold all my previous consoles and games once new hardware was released. But im all digital on both of my systems so I dont plan on selling anymore hardware. I will be going with the digital edition PS5 when Resident Evil 8 is released.

But yeah I feel ya. Lol I just counted how many games I own on Switch and its 175. Lmao Yet Im still craving new games and more Switch announcements even though I will never have the time to get through the games I currently already own. Though to be fair I did play a nice chunk of the games I have on Switch on other platforms prior so I dont feel as bad not completing them again a 2nd time.

When I was a kid my parents decided (and alive) that I had to sell my old console to get a new one. They would pay the difference. T'was understandable but also a bummer. So in the recent years I started getting them anew. NES was first and then the rest folloed. Got a Super Famicom instead of a SNES though, but it's modded to play PAL games also, so it's OK. I just found, about a hour ago, a N64 for a nice price and the I'll have all the Nintendo home systems...Of course I have more than Ninty systems ;)

I'll be getting a PS5 day 1 I guess, but sure hope RE8 gets the VR treatment with the PSVR 2. But I can't go all digital since my internet out here in the woods (almost) is just 200GB per month and is deadly slow (can play Spla2n though for some reason) and I like physical better anyway, but cool that they have the option with the PS5. Sony really gave MS a punch under the belt this time.

Oh the Switch backlog...It's insane, really. Have way too many games for it... =D

I am going to have to get back into Horizon Zero Dawn too. I got into this gen real late on ps4 and Xbox one. 2018 and 2019 in holidays in when I got each. The switch I got around the same time as ps4 so I am more on time there. But I that meant I missed a lot of games. Luckily this year I have pretty much all the games I was going to play on ps4 and Xbox one minus like 4 or 6 new ones I was going to get coming this year. But now I have a huge back log. And horizon is in that. I have played a good about of it probably like 10 to 20 hours but other games pulled me away. And even with all this going on I have not made it back. Today or Sunday I might finally jump back in. I have been playing Xenoblade again with this amazing remaster. So will take a little time off that to go back.

I am currently playing through the Metroid games for the first time, almost done with them. I'll be doing a blind run of Metroid Prime 3 this weekend.

I am playing Sea of Thieves with my homies on XB1X, Final Fantasy 9 on PS4 Pro, and Xenoblade on Switch.

Yakuza 3, I only recently got to the point in the game when the plot really picks up (this particular Yakuza has a real slow burn beginning).

I'll be finishing Call of Duty WW2 Story mode (Thanks to PS Plus) and then returning to finish Leon's story on RE2 to make the way clear for The Last of Us 2 on Friday.
My Switch is taking a break from me since I gave my wife Animal Crossing New Horizons as a present Smile

My time has been alternating between Streets of Rage 4 (PC), Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Garry's Mod (PC), Left 4 Dead 2 (PC), and Golf It! (PC). I've got a bad backlog of games for both PC and Switch that I need to work on at some point.
