Dataminers dig into Animal Crossing: New Horizons' latest update to find teases of what's to come

Digging deep to find new details

Animal Crossing: New Horizons just got a free Summer update, and dataminers were eager to dive in and see what else it was hiding. They've now come forward with some interesting news on content and more that should be appearing in-game sometime down the road.

Dataminer Ninji first shared new details on how NPCs spawn. The info was put together into a handy infographic, which you can see below.

Next up, there's an indicator that data has been added related to save data backups. We knew this feature was coming, but it looks like we might be getting access to it soon.

Following that, there's a rundown for the Mermaid Furniture set and the materials required to craft them, along with the new pirate items from Gulliver.

Lastly, there's a number of various tidbits for minor information, which has been rounded up below.

– More references internally to Dream Suite features
– Something unknown (“Vn”), added in the same location that referenced the different kinds of vegetables before
– Weather patterns have changed very slightly, giving you more hours in which stars can appear on the Fine02 and Fine06 patterns (2 of the 3 kinds of light showers)
– Not only has Nintendo changed Fine02 and Fine06, they’ve also changed the way light meteor showers work
– Stars now appear in all hours from 7 PM – 4 AM, not just those with clear/fine weather
– Saharah can now apparently sell multiple items at once
– On bug-off and fishing tourney days, the KK Slider concert is now moved to Sunday rather than Friday, so you won’t lose Friday’s NPC slot that week
– You can have both Gulliver and Gullivarr within the same week, but not on consecutive days

Save data backup can’t come soon enough. I’ve put in so many hours.... it would be heartbreaking to lose my town.

I forgot that AC stupidly doesn’t support normal save backups. Nintendo did say a solution would arrive shortly after the games release but nearly 4 months later I don’t think there has been an update.

Yeah I'm pretty sure this is the first thing we've heard about it since launch. Hopefully Nintendo says something soon.

If the Dream Suite really does happen, it could be connected to creating island backups.

In New Leaf, registering your town to the Dream Suite essentially created a "backup" of it for users to randomly visit. I could see them making it an automatic process in New Horizons so that there's always something recent to restore your island with. At least I'd like to think that's possible. Like you I've invested a lot of time into my island.

That a very good observation. I get the feeling you’re on to something.

Saharah can now apparently sell multiple items at once

That isn't exactly true, he just worded it wrong I guess.
Before the update I think she would end the conversation after each item you bought and then you'd have to talk to her again to buy something else.
Now after the update what happens is after you buy a rug from Saharah she will give you the option to continue buying something else, but you still can only buy one rug at a time.

In the end she still repeats a lot of the same dialog that you have to mash the button to get through, so in reality this only saves just a little bit of time.

It’s small but I’ll take it. Animal Crossing’s dialog is so tedious, so any amount of streamlining is good.
