The latest Ninjala dev diary confirms something that has been rumored for awhile now. The game is going to get a special collaboration event with Sonic the Hedgehog.
Today's video confirms the existence of the collaboration, but doesn't share specific details. We'll have to wait until a later date for that. According to the datamined info from months back, it seems that Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are going to be featured in some way.
