Rumor - Super Mario Remasters still planned to be announced in September, but the games likely won't release until 2021

A long ongoing rumor throughout 2020 was that Nintendo was going to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario franchise by releasing various remastered versions of classic Mario games for the Nintendo Switch. However, due to complications with COVID-19, these games were allegedly delayed. September is supposed to be Mario's big celebratory month, and it was supposed to be the month in which these Mario remasters would have been released. But now that September 2020 has arrived and there are no announcements, many have wondered if this long-running rumor still holds any merit.

A newer rumor suggests that the games will still be announced this month as a means of still celebrating Mario's 35th anniversary in some way. However, the games themselves would most likely not release in 2020 and would instead release sometimes in 2021. This rumor has been going on for so long, so who knows if these games are even real and, assuming they are real, if Nintendo still has any plans to announce any information regarding these games.

If this rumor IS real, then that would mean that Nintendo would announce these games by the end of the month. In other words, September may be the month that finally proves whether or not these 35th anniversary games are legitimate, and if they are, then Super Mario will unfortunately have to have a smaller celebration this year than Nintendo had hoped.

This post is embarrassingly bad. Not only is the article you're sourcing not saying what you have; only saying SM3DW could possibly pushed to Jan 2021 while the other would be no later than November, the article itself is extremely questionable. Its sourcing the opinion of a small-time youtuber who does nothing but regurgitate info from other actual reputable sources. The only reason he made this video, too, was because he misproportionally overhyped this last Direct to be something it clearly was never going to be, and now he has to back up with an opinion piece to cover his ass and look "reputable" again to his middling amount of followers.

Did you not read the article?

" 'Then we’re potentially looking at 3D collection either being early October… or the 3D collection is going to come out in November and be positioned as a prime holiday title, with a Mario-themed console, dock and all of that,' he said."

Man I cant wait until we get to 2025 during Mario's 40th anniversary and people are still claiming this 35th anniversary collection will be announced soon...along with Metroid Prime Trilogy HD and Skyward Sword HD...

This doesn't seem like Nintendo's style -announcing games months and months in advance of their release dates. It's possible but I'd expect an announcement with release in a few months this year.

Maybe the Mario remasters will launch with the Switch Pro in 2021. I definitely think Metroid Prime 4 has been moved to the next console.

No reason to think so. We likely have 2 or three more years of Switch and development on Metroid Pride 4 didn't restart from scratch too long ago. Could see it being in a BotW situation releasing on both if it's a new console.

Nah. The Switch Pro will be a part of the Switch family, like how all the DS'es were and Xbox One to Xbox One X etc.

Why would they put a Mario collection on a Switch Pro? They all ran on older systems already.

There's no Switch Pro.

Rumour: Rumour is rumouring again about the rumour being a rumour.

Might as well start the story that the Mario 35th Collection will be exclusive to the Switch Pro and run at 4K and be a docked only system.

We’ll get to the end of the switch life cycle and they will finally announce Metroid Prime Trilogy by saying “The Last Switch Game has been announced from Captivity, the galaxy is now at peace...”

Oh yeah the invisible mario remasters...I really *forgot* about them

And just the other day I was wondering when this rumor would come back

Whether the rumor is true or not, SM3DW not being on Switch would be soo upsetting imo.
