GN Version 5.0

A long ongoing rumor throughout 2020 was that Nintendo was going to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario franchise by releasing various remastered versions of classic Mario games for the Nintendo Switch. However, due to complications with COVID-19, these games were allegedly delayed. September is supposed to be Mario's big celebratory month, and it was supposed to be the month in which these Mario remasters would have been released. But now that September 2020 has arrived and there are no announcements, many have wondered if this long-running rumor still holds any merit.

A newer rumor suggests that the games will still be announced this month as a means of still celebrating Mario's 35th anniversary in some way. However, the games themselves would most likely not release in 2020 and would instead release sometimes in 2021. This rumor has been going on for so long, so who knows if these games are even real and, assuming they are real, if Nintendo still has any plans to announce any information regarding these games.

If this rumor IS real, then that would mean that Nintendo would announce these games by the end of the month. In other words, September may be the month that finally proves whether or not these 35th anniversary games are legitimate, and if they are, then Super Mario will unfortunately have to have a smaller celebration this year than Nintendo had hoped.
