Super Mario Galaxy is coming to Switch via the Super Mario 3D All-Stars package, and there's a few minor details worth pointing out outside of the announcement.

First up, while you can play with the Joy-Con, you don't have to. Super Mario Galaxy will allow you to play with other controllers, and makes the motion controls optional. How features like the Wii Remote pointer and spinning will work without motion controls remains to be seen.

Along with that, for those playing with Joy-Con, the game will indeed allow you to pass one of them off to another player for the Co-Star mode. This was a feature in the original Super Mario Galaxy that let fans get a bit of help from a second player by shooting star bits at enemies, and freezing them in place.
