RUMOR - Resident Evil 3: Cloud Version coming to Switch

Is a second Cloud outing for Resident Evil on the way?

Switch owners can enjoy the Cloud version of Control on Switch today, and a Cloud version of Hitman is on the way as well. It looks like those games might not be the only Cloud titles on the way to Switch, as an interesting discovery has been found by dataminers.

When you launch the Cloud version of Control on Switch, you'll get directed to the following site. Dataminers were quick to dig through the site to see what else they could find, which led to the discovery of the icon above.

Capcom hasn't announced Resident Evil 3: Cloud Version for Switch, but the move would make sense. Resident Evil 7 got a Cloud release in Japan, and it's likely Capcom wants to continue that move with other installments in the franchise. Now we just sit back and wait for them to confirm it!

You know what they should do with these games? Include them in the Nintendo Switch Online subscription. And if the library eventually becomes large enough, maybe charge a separate fee. Charging €40 to essentially rent a single game, that’s only available as long as the servers are operational, is not good value.

I like that idea, even if it makes NSO cost more or creates a second tier.

This is a fantastic idea. I will pay for Nintendo Online due to wanting to play Tetris 99, and SNES games, but this would certainly sweeten the pot. I could even see the price bumping up if this were true, but it would be worth it.

Exactly what they should do. That, or at the very least third parties should treat these cloud versions as the rental services they are and charge appropriately for them. Near full price for a game you don’t own in any sense of the word isn’t right at all and it’s not a precedent anyone should be welcoming.
