Nintendo opens Japanese site for Zelda: Breath of the Wild that chronicles player memories and favorite moments from the game

3+ years of amazing Zelda fun

While we all wait for new info on Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, Nintendo has opened up a special Japanese tribute site for the original Breath of the Wild. The site is meant to gather messages from Breath of the Wild fans in order to share their experiences with the game.

As of right now, the site has 17 pages full of messages from Japanese players. One of those messages comes from a 67-year-old grandmother, which you can read below.

“I decided to travel to Hyrule Kingdom at 67 years old. At first, I struggled to climb off the tower after Link wakes up and activates it. My hands were sweating, hearing my grandchildren complaining, and I finally managed to do it after multiple tries. I was alone and grinning when I managed to defeat a Guardian for the first time. I’m still proud I ultimately managed to discover and clear all 120 Shrines before my grandchildren did. My journey ended with my grandchildren praising me: “grandma you’re so awesome!!”. Did the desolate Hyrule Kingdom managed to revive into a beautiful country? I would love to see it again with my grandchildren.”

If you want to snoop around the site for yourself, you can have a look at it here.

It's a great game, probably the best ever. It would be nice to see a Western version of this site. It's nice too, to see a 67 year old grandmother really enjoying it like the rest of us.

My only problem with this game is that I’ll never be able to experience it for the first time again. That first playthrough was absolutely magic.

Not saying it’s perfect, it had its issues but absolutely none of them detracted from the game for me in any meaningful way. As close to perfect as games have ever got IMO!

Breath of the Wild is a masterpiece in game design. For me it’s the Lord of the Rings of video games. Something I can, and do, return to again and again. Like others have said, not without fault, but no game is ever absolutely perfect.

Now I wouldn’t mind replaying it in glorious 4K like I’m going to do with Lord of the Rings next week Smile

HAd my XO and FallOut 4 and was loving it a lot, bt then the Switch and BOTW moved in and I haven't touched FO4 ever since. I love the gme still, but BOTW pissed on it's parade big time.

I think that one of the most genius parts of the game is how open and non-linear it is. Not just in the open world and how you can approach it, but the fact that you don't have to follow the story and get all the memories, but you can if you want to. And even if you have all the memories, you can get waaaaay more ore, and thus story, by exploring. That's where BOTW is so special. A masterpiece, with minor flaws.

Edit: And I forgot to write my MAIN POINT!!! (LOL@ME): With the above mentioned, we all make our own journey. It's not spoon fed to us. We just embark on our own, personal adventure! =)
