Back in August, we shared a story about Garigari-kun popsicles. This popsicle brand in Japan had a contest going on where customers could win a special Zarude trading card. You could only do that if you had a popsicle stick with a specific message on it, and then you had to send the stick in to Garigari-kun. People who had these sticks ended up turning to auction sites to sell them for upwards of $470, which is crazy considering a box of these popsicles is priced at just $3!

Not surprisingly, someone out there tried to game the system. 43-year-old Takashi Ono decided to try and forge the winning popsicle sticks. Rather than sell them on auction sites, he decided his forgeries were good enough to fool Garigari-kun themselves. The company received the sticks, closely examined them, and saw that they were fake. This is when Garigari-kun reported Ono to the police, which led to his arrest.
