I wish people like this would focus their energy into making something original. What's the point in ripping Zelda sprites and spending time coding when Nintendo will just shut it down?

Nintendo ninja's in 3, 2, ... ..

Ya know you could say the same about all fan-art. Why waste time creating art for Nintendo characters when they should focus their energy into something original...

Creating fan art and literally ripping sprites from a rom are two completely different things.

They’re not that different. Both are taking someone else’s IP and reworking them. If this fan developer created the Zelda sprites, themselves rather than ripping them you’d be ok with that?

This will get them far more exposure. Some creators have gone on to get hired by developers.

Creators have gotten hired from stealing intellectual properties? Certainly not with a Nintendo property. Maybe Capcom or Sega but definitely not Nintendo.

Why ask a question only to answer it yourself? Seems like you know it all. Smile

I feel like the "paper" part of Paper Mario isn't the RPG aspect and the aesthetic, and when you just rip sprites and stand them up in 3D, its not really "paper" at all.
