Monster Hunter Rise Switch exclusivity will remain intact for roughly a year, heading to PC in early 2022

Rising up on PC

The Switch will be the only console you'll see Monster Hunter Rise on, but you'll eventually be able to pick it up somewhere else. In an interview with IGN Japan, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed that a PC port is in the works.

“We received a lot of requests for a PC version of Monster Hunter Rise, particularly from overseas players, and so we have decided to develop a version for PC, which we aim to release in early 2022. This is still under development, so I’d like to share more detailed information when the time is right.”

Monster Hunter World originally saw release on XB1/PS4, but a PC version was made roughly a year and a half later. The situation for Monster Hunter Rise appears to be similar. At least Switch fans can enjoy a year+ knowing Nintendo's platform is the only place to play the game.

Thanks to Sligeach_eire for the heads up!

PLEASE have crossplay! My hunting group being fractured between platforms was one of the worst parts of gen 5.

A timed exclusive was the best Nintendo could hope. The Switch doesn’t have any real exclusives, bar Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, for obvious reasons. It'll probably come to other consoles shortly after PC as well.

Who knows, this time next year or thereafter, they might get Monster Hunter: Rise, while we might get Monster Hunter: World on Switch Pro. 🤞

Wrong. Only from third parties, upcoming games (not counting the ones already released)

Shin megami tensei V
No more heroes 3
Bayonetta 3
Bravely Default whatever number
Project Triangle
Ghost and goblins resurrection

These are the ones I can remember right now, pretty sure someone else can complete this list better. Again, this are only upcoming third party games, not counting the first party one which are of course exclusives to the console.

Bayonetta 3, ya again for obvious reasons is exclusive. You're listing games that haven't released. I was talking about games already out. And some of those above won't remain exclusive, like Project Triangle Strategy, just look at Octopath Traveler. No More Heroes 3? No More Heroes 1&2 went to other platforms, etc.

Ghost and Goblins Ressurection and Bravely Default 2 have come out and you can add Deadly Premonition 2 and a bunch of indie games to the exclusive list.

Like I said "real exclusives". 😜 Some of those I couldn't care less about, and you're stretching it with some of them. Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers...Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Hyper Turbo Alpha Champion Edition. Really?

If you played the game you would know it's not a port (please, show me where in any previous games you could escape from grabs, I will be waiting here!) but a different game in gameplay too, just to name one of the changes. Again, if you don't like a game, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Stop being a narcissistic kid.

Will you accept you are wrong btw, and you are just trying to spin things around? It won't work now.

The only “other platform” No More Heroes 2 released on was the Switch, so you’re almost right there lol.

I will say this again bro. Join gamefaqs. They will love guys like you

They've ONLY just released, and as I said, I was talking about current games, "The Switch doesn’t have any real exclusives". Deadly Premonition 2 is a mess, better forgotten about. It may eventually come to other platforms, the first one did. Bravely Default, that is true. Ghosts n Goblins Resurrection will I'm sure come to other platforms eventually.

The fact that you don't like a game it doesn't mean it doesn't exist, or that other people don't enjoy it. You have to be very narcissistic if you think that if you don't enjoy a game it's not worth trying.

Wait so first it was "upcoming games", then it was "games already out" and now it's "games just released"? How old are you? 9? Can't you face facts when you are wrong?

Neat, I hope it comes to Xbox and Playstation after as well.

Eh, to be honest I get no enjoyment out of knowing a game is exclusive. It doesn’t make any sense to me why some people do care about that to be honest, in the case of third party games anyway (of course I understand why first party games are exclusive to platforms and why people would want them to remain so to validate their purchase of a specific console). I’d rather games be accessible to as many people as possible, especially nowadays where cross play is getting more and more common- would rather have a huge player base of multiple systems than be locked into one group.

I’m not saying there’s no merit in third party exclusives since they can help drive console sales and thus that console gets more support and games in the future but if there’s nothing contractual in place keeping a game locked to one system then I don’t see a reason not to put it elsewhere.

Some third party games play better on the hardware that they were released on. So even if the games were released multiplat, the superior version of the game will mostly be the original most of the time.

I agree that third parties would most likely want more sales so they will release their games towards many platforms. Pretty much any game that gets ported to PC will have more benefits than it has on console anyways. In this case, Rise ported to PC means better graphics than the Switch version(assuming the port plays well).

they just shot themselves in the foot with switch sales for this one. People in the UK and other parts of Europe will wait. A ton of American players will wait too as if it runs on switch it can run on basically any graphics card currently available.

It'll still move millions in Japan though, so I guess they don't care .
