New York - games may see yet another tax

If Assemblyman Felix Ortiz of Brooklyn has his way, video game sales and rentals are going to see a one-quarter of one percent tax added onto all transactions. This tax would also be added onto the sale/rental of movies, as well as movie theater tickets, and even some junk food. While the bill is unlikely to pass, it’s scary to think that something like this could even be proposed.

As you’ve probably guessed, Mr. Ortiz’s motivation in drafting this proposal is to try and halt obesity.
