Pokemon games pull in $2.5 billion on mobile

...with Pokemon GO doing the bulk of the heavy lifting

Pokemon GO has been a huge hit, but it's not the only Pokemon mobile game. When you take a look at the entire landscape of mobile Pokemon games, just how much bank has the Pokemon Co. made? Sensor Tower has shared those details in a new report.

- Pokémon games on mobile have made about $2.5 billion worldwide
- total game downloads sit at 640 million
- these numbers do not include Android revenues in China
- Pokemon GO has earned 98 percent of that revenue, or about $2.45 billion
- Pokémon Shuffle has pulled in $25 million
- Pokémon Duel, Pokémon Quest, Pokémon: Magikarp Jump, and Pokémon TCG Online make up the rest of the revenue
- Pokémon Shuffle and Pokémon TCG Online are the only two Pokémon mobile games available in China
- the U.S. accounted for 35 percent ($875 million) of revenue, while Japan is next with 29 percent ($725 million)
- Pokémon Go makes up the majority of those 640 million downloads, accounting for 86 percent of them (550 million)

Pokemon Quest hits 10 million downloads on mobile, hits $9.5 million in revenue since launch

Sensor Tower has an update on Pokemon Quest, which launched back on June 24th, 2018. Here's how the game has managed on mobile since that launch.

- 10 million installs globally
- grossed approximately $9.5 million across the App Store and Google Play
- fifth most installed mobile game in the franchise
- Pokémon: Magikarp Jump at 14.5 million downloads, Pokémon Shuffle Mobile at 15.4 million, Pokémon Duel at 37.8 million, and Pokémon GO at more than 540 million
- Pokémon Quest ranks No. 4 in revenue when compared to other mobile titles in the serie
- Magikarp Jump at $5.2 million, Pokémon Duel ($21.6 million), Pokémon Shuffle Mobile ($21.8 million), and Pokémon GO (more than $2.27 billion)
- Japanese mobile gamers have spent the most so far at just over $3 million or 32 percent
- Players in the United States have contributed the second-largest amount at 26 percent, or close to $2.5 million
- the largest portion of the game’s downloads since launch have come from the U.S. at 2.2 million
- this is followed by Japan at 1.6 million
- the game grossed $8 million in its first month
- revenue was at approximately $150,000 in December 2018

Pokemon Quest getting gameplay enhancements for its Chinese release

As we've covered recently, Pokemon Quest is making its way to China. The game will hit April 2019 in China, and we've learned that it'll include some tweaks and changes over the versions the rest of the world received.

This version of the game will include new social features, as well as PvP battles. There's no word on whether these updated features will be added to other versions of the game. We also don't have specifics on how PVP battles or the extra social features will work.

Pokemon Quest - Ver. 1.0.4 (mobile) now available

Over on the mobile side of things, an update for Pokemon Quest is available. This is Version 1.0.4, but there really aren't any patch notes to speak of. All we know is that this update includes minor bug fixes.

- the hanging scrolls in Saffron City’s Fighting-type gym were painted in real life
- a professional calligrapher wrote the words in traditional Japanese style
- the words are gibberish and don’t have any actual meaning in Japanese
- they were then scanned into the game

Pokemon anime turns 20 in the US

Believe it or not, on Sept. 8th 20 years ago, the first episode of the Pokemon anime aired in the states. Amazingly, the series is still going strong all these years later! That's such a crazy thing to think about. I started watching the series back with the very first episode...when I was a junior in high school!
