Time to panic!

The long wait is finally over...in Japan, at least. The Messenger's "Picnic Panic" DLC is going to launch in NA/EU on July 11th, 2019. The same date was given for Japan, which is why the DLC is live right now. They're just a little bit ahead of our schedule!

The Messenger's retail release pushed back to the last two weeks in July

Patience is a virtue

Looks like fans hoping to get their retail version of The Messenger are going to have to wait until later in July. We now know that the game has been pushed back to at least the last two weeks in July, as there were changes made to the printed materials. This change caused a delay in game card production, hence the new release timeframe.

The Messenger developer explains the game's unique double-jump mechanic

Somersault jump!

The Messenger doesn't have a traditional double jump. You have to slice your way through an item/enemy in order to gain an extra jump. This leads to some really unique ways to jump your way through the obstacles ahead. The Messenger developer Thierry Boulanger has put together a dev blog explaining how this whole mechanic came to be, which you can read up on right here.

Double the soundtracks!

2xLP Past and Future Vinyl
Album Art By Peter Mohrbacher
Music by Rainbowdragoneyes
Limited edition of 3000

Ships Q2 2019

The soundtrack to The Messenger is a rare gem prophesied in ancient scrolls. It’s a cathartic odyssey through mythology and mayhem, as imagined through the earholes of a prolific madman named Rainbowdragoneyes. This 2xLP represents the duality of the game’s narrative and it’s split-personality as an album. The first disc oozes with 8-bit NES-talgia, while the second disc journeys us into the 16-bit future. These are two distinct soundtracks borne of different eras, yet bonded by ninja sweat and demon blood. They are ambitious, addictive and totally fucking awesome.
