YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG's upcoming patch detailed

A patch for YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG is in the works. We don't have a solid release date for it yet, but we do have a couple details on what it'll provide.

- improved overall frame-rate in dungeons,

- battle load times sped up

YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG contains a Satoru Iwata tribute

YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG players have noticed a very straightforward tribute to none other than former Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata. As you can see in the image above, this isn't a passing reference or hidden shout-out. This is a very direct mention of the man himself. Some people find the tribute to be a bit tasteless, and it's causing quite a discussion on Twitter. What do you think?

YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG glitch causes a fast food menu to block the screen

You know what makes a battle tough in an RPG? A big text box blocking your battle options. That's something that can happen in YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG, and it's a pretty nasty glitch. We're not sure what triggers the issue, but the result is an in-game fast food menu that blocks pretty much all of your battle options. You'll just have to work through on muscle memory!

Undertale's creator provided a song for YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG

Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale, is shared a little secret today. He created one of the songs in the recently-released YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG. Fox didn't have a hand in creating the game itself, as it's the project of Ackk Studios. Fox didn't say what song he composed for the game, but I'm willing to bet fans can sniff it out. There's just something instantly recognizable about Fox's style!

It’s spring of ‘99 and Alex just returned home from college as a graduate. When a cat steals his grocery list, it starts him on the longest and weirdest journey of his life: women vanishing from elevators, beings made of light, and enemies ranging from smiley faces on springs to giant pandas armed to the teeth are just a few of the unusual things he encounters on his quest.

Join Alex and friends as they explore surreal dungeons filled with puzzles and traps, crash evil parties, peel back the layers of conspiracy and engage in combat based on minigames.

The soundtrack, featuring compositions from Undertale creator Toby Fox and Hiroki Kikuta of Secret of Mana, is as distinctive as the game itself, including an electroacoustic fusion of jazz, funk, traditional JRPG-style tunes and swing.

“YIIK is an eclectic mix of ideas and crazy audiovisual stimulation inspired by a time when the internet was new and people were only just learning about the strangeness of the world around them,” said Andrew Allanson, founder and co-director, Ackk Studios. “Today it’s easy to find details on just about anything, but back in 1999, the internet offered up more questions than answers. YIIKexplores the what-could-be that existed before Snopes.”

YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Steam for $19.99 and supports English. Japanese and Simplified Chinese support will be added in Q1 2019.
