First 4 Figures working with the Darksiders franchise

Face the darkness

First 4 Figures has revealed a new license that they'll be working with this year. The company has secured a deal with THQ to creature figures based on the Darksiders franchise. No specific details were shared on what figures to expect yet, but I'm sure we'll hear something as we get further into 2020.

GoNintendo Review - Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition (written by NintendoJam)

"Really delivers in its engaging gameplay and thrilling combat."

NintendoJam is the newest member of GoNintendo's team. You may have noticed that he's been taking on some news duties Wednesday mornings, and doing a bang-up job at that. As for today, NintendoJam has put together a review of Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition. Check out his full thoughts on the game below. - RMC

Darksiders 2 is a fun and exhilarating experience in the action-adventure genre that isn't quite to die for, but is certainly worth your time.

Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition on Nintendo Switch was my introduction to the Darksiders franchise. While I own the first game in the series' trilogy (Darksiders Warmastered) for Switch, it was mainly for collection purposes and I never got around to actually play it. Luckily, this review opportunity arose, allowing me to give the ‘dark’ world of Darksiders the attention it truly deserved.

Darksiders 2 originally released in 2012 for current generation consoles at the time including Wii U. Three years later, in 2015, a definitive edition of the game was released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. This version of the game included upgraded graphics, all of the paid DLC from the original base release, and a few other minor improvements. With the recent port of the 'Deathinitive Edition' on Nintendo Switch, Darksiders 2 has been released three different times, and can basically be played on your console of choice. However, purchasing the Switch version provides the unique advantage of being able to take this expansive adventure with you on the go with little to no compromises.

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition's retail printing issue fixed, black-spine versions now bringing in decent money on eBay

Invest in Darksiders!

THQ Nordic has apparently fixed the issue with Darksiders: Warmastered Edition's retail release on Switch. You might remember that copies in North America had an all-black spine as the result of a printing error. While no fix was offered to customers who bought that version, a newly-corrected cover is now available in stores.

If you grabbed one of the black-spine covers, it might actually be to your benefit. It's a bit of a collector's item now, and is bringing in upwards of $70 on eBay!

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition hitting Switch in Japan on April 25th, 2019

War spreads

Deceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of the world, War – the first Horseman of the Apocalypse – stands accused of breaking the sacred law by inciting a war between Heaven and Hell. In the slaughter that ensued, the demonic forces defeated the heavenly hosts and laid claim to the Earth.

Worker Bee has announced that they'll be bringing Darksiders: Warmastered Edition to the Switch in Japan on April 25th, 2019. We don't have word on pricing yet, but it should be similar to what we see in NA/EU.

Digital Foundry analysis: Darksiders Warmastered Edition on Switch

Good to know some care was put into this one

This is a rather impressive port of a remaster of a genuine last-gen gem. A curious kind of hybrid of PS3 and PS4 remaster, Darksiders on Switch allows you to run at either high resolution or with a 60fps target - and all modes (whether played in docked or mobile configuration) deliver a vast improvement over the original release of the game.

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition's cover art issue appears to only impact North America

Mistake, or improvement?

As we shared earlier in the week, it seems there was some sort of printing issue with Darksiders: Warmastered Edition that caused a black spine, as well as a lack of red on the front cover as well. As you can see in the image above, that printing error isn't present in all parts of the world. As of right now, it seems North America is the only place dealing with the mistake.

Which one is right for you?

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is one of the latest Switch games to allow players to pick between performance and quality modes. Check out the footage above to see how much of a difference the two settings make.
