Tokyo Dark sequel has been put on indefinite hold

Going dark

The original Tokyo Dark launched for PC back in September 2017, and then was brought to Switch as Tokyo Dark: Remembrance in Novmeber 2019. Work on a Tokyo Dark sequel has been going on for quite some time, but unfortunately, the developer has stated the game is now on indefinite hold.

Developer Cherrymochi said work on the sequel had been underway since the original released, but they've put the game on hold to move onto other projects. With that said, Cherrymochi is open to publishers and partners who want to help them make Tokyo Dark 2 a reality. In other words, the game isn't 100% dead yet, but it'll sit on the shelf until a solution comes around.

Horror Adventure Tokyo Dark -Remembrance- Terrifies Switch on Nov. 7th, 2019, New Trailer Released

Hope you're ready...

TOKYO – Oct. 16, 2019 – Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) publishing label UNTIES in collaboration with developers Cherrymochi and mebius. will bring Tokyo Dark - Remembrance -, the anime-style murder mystery merging visual novel and adventure features, to Nintendo Switch on Nov. 7. The macabre tale will creep up on PlayStation 4 this year.

Tokyo Dark - Remembrance - expands the gripping story of the original Tokyo Dark with updated and additional content as well as new endings.

Detective Itō Ayami hasn’t had a full night’s sleep since the horrifying occurrences leading to her partner’s disappearance. Haunted by eerie images of a young girl and red marks painted all over town, she must fight the mysterious, dark power threatening her sanity on her mission to reunite with her lost colleague.

Every action impacts the storyline, thanks to the S.P.I.N. (Sanity, Professionalism, Investigation, Neurosis) system. Stay cool to gain Professionalism and help from coworkers. Drink on the job to cope with the ghastly images threatening Ayami’s Sanity. Stuck on a puzzle? Wandering around too much can raise the Neurosis stat. Everything Itō does can open new doors or cut her off from other options down the line, affecting the availability of more than 10 possible endings.

Tokyo Dark - Remembrance - features animated sequences from Graphnica, the studio responsible for scenes in Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Hellsing Ultimate and more. Accented by a sinister soundtrack, eye-catching graphics inspired by real locations in Tokyo, propelled by Japanese mythology as well as urban myths, and tempered by the cultural influences of an international development team, Tokyo Dark - Remembrance - presents a compelling story that’s hard to shake once it takes hold.

“Walking the streets of Tokyo will never feel the same after playing Tokyo Dark - Remembrance -,” said John Davis, G&R Representative, UNTIES. “With new content and additional endings, the tale has more horrific variety than ever, appealing to fans of Japanese horror stories and western murder-mysteries alike.”

Tokyo Dark - Remembrance - will come to Nintendo Switch on Nov. 7 for $19.99 USD/€17.99, with pre-orders beginning Oct. 31. The game will have English and German text options with full audio and text in Japanese.
