Retailer lists physical releases for both Stranger Things 3 and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics on Switch

Netflix and Switch

There was a point in time where Netflix said they were considering retail releases for their Switch games, but we didn't hear much after that. I guess they were working behind the scenes to make that happen, as two listings for their games have popped up on EB Games New Zealand's website.

According to listings on the retailer's website, both The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics and Stranger Things 3 are going to get the physical treatment. Both games have generic 2020 listings, so no word on when they'll actually release. The good thing is that EB Games is certainly a reputable retailer, so I'd say these listings are indeed an early confirmation of what's to come.

Thanks to Sephiroth_FF for the heads up!

EXCLUSIVE: The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics character profile - Hup, The Podling Paladin

A fast, physical fighter

We are both very happy and very lucky to have a special feature to share with you guys today. The gang behind The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics have reached out to us to share an exclusive character profile for the game! You can get the full breakdown on Hup, The Podling Paladin, below. Learn about the various abilities and tactics Hup can employ as he battles off the Skeksis.

In The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics, a new strategy game by BonusXP and En Masse Entertainment, players are tasked with leading the Gelfling resistance through over 50 turn-based campaign battles. Along the way, they’ll be able to recruit allies like Hup—a loyal Podling Paladin, and protector of the Gelfling Deet.

Players can unlock up to 5 unique jobs for their Podling heroes over the course of the campaign, alongside 12 Gelfling jobs, and 2 Fizzgig jobs. Each hero can be assigned a primary job and a secondary job, allowing them to equip three abilities from the selected primary Job and two from the selected secondary Job to create a custom loadout of up to five abilities. Between battles, players can switch loadouts with ease through the Party Menu.

Let’s take a look at Hup, the Podling with big dreams of becoming a Paladin. Hup joins the party as a fast physical fighter with an extra bonus to Speed due to his Podling “Simple” trait.

Unlike his Gelfling allies in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics, Hup has access to a different set of Jobs. Just like his character on the show, Hup makes a great support character who never strays too far from his allies. For this example build, we have assigned Hup the primary Job of Musician, and the Podling Paladin as his secondary Job.

We have selected the abilities Refreshing Tune, Perform, and Soothing Melody from the Musician Job and Mudball and Lend a Hand from the Paladin Job. Hup must remain adjacent to his allies to take advantage of these abilities.

Hup’s only attack in this build is Mudball. With zero mana cost, it allows Hup to spend his mana wisely on his support abilities while inflicting damage, plus Blind and Move Down (on a Critical Hit), on enemies at range.

Lend a Hand allows Hup to remove all Negative Status effects from an ally, but he must be in close range to use it. It’s a great ability to have in a pinch when your damage dealers and tanks find themselves afflicted by some nasty status effects.

Hup’s main support abilities are Refreshing Tune and Perform.

Refreshing Tune heals all adjacent allies and grants them Barrier and Shell for two turns, allowing Hup to mend wounds and protect his friends from both physical and magical damage all in a single cast.

Perform isn’t as flashy, but it’s important all the same. All allies adjacent to Hup receive a Recovery boost, allowing them to take their turns sooner.

Finally, we have Soothing Melody. This allows Hup to become a kind of MP battery for his entire team, restoring MP to his allies, which will prove vital in longer fights.

These are just some of the possible ways players can leverage the powerful job system in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics. How will you choose to play?

EXCLUSIVE: The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics character profile - Deet, the Grottan Adept

The deets on Deet!

We are both very happy and very lucky to have a special feature to share with you guys today. The gang behind The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics have reached out to use to share an exclusive character profile for the game! You can get the full breakdown on Deet, the Grottan Adept, below. Learn about the various abilities and tactics Deet can employ as she battles off the Skeksis.

___________________________________________________

Character Profile – Deet, the Grottan Adept

In the Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics, a new strategy game by BonusXP and En Masse Entertainment, players will be tasked with leading the Gelfling resistance through over 50 turn-based campaign battles. Along the way, they’ll be able to recruit allies like Deet, a fan favorite of the Netflix original series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, and customize them with unique jobs and equipment.

Players can unlock up to 12 unique jobs for their heroes over the course of the campaign. Each hero can be assigned a primary job and a secondary job, allowing them to equip three abilities from the selected primary job and two from the selected secondary job to create a custom loadout of up to five abilities. Loadouts can be switched with ease by accessing the Party Menu in between battles.

Let’s take a deeper look at Deet. She joins the party as an offense-focused all-rounder who is immune to Blind status as a member of the Grottan clan.

Deet is a flexible hero who can take advantage of any of the game’s offense styled Jobs, but we like to play her as a magic-based area-of-effect damage dealer. To accomplish this, we assign Deet the Adept as her primary Job and the Bramble Sage as her secondary Job.

For Deet’s Adept abilities, we select Fly, Toxic Fumes and Overthink. We then round out the loadout with the abilities Wash and Firemoss Bundle from Bramble Sage.

The goal with this build is to use Fly to optimally position Deet around the battlefield in order to take advantage of her multiple area of effect spells. The Adept’s Toxic Fumes can be used to apply a Poison damage over time effect to a group of enemies. Once softened up with Poison, Deet can rain fire on her foes with repeated use of Firemoss Bundle, an area of effect damage spell.

With proper positioning, the Bramble Sage’s Wash spell can be used to attack all enemies diagonal from Deet.

Fly isn’t only useful for getting into position, it also serves as Deet’s only escape tool if things get too hairy.

Finally, we rely on the Adept’s Overthink ability to keep Deet’s MP topped up. Area-of-effect spells cost considerable MP to cast and Deet will need to rely on Overthink to continue to contribute in protracted battles.

These are just some of the possible ways players can leverage the powerful job system in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics. How will you choose to play?
