SEGA Brings Twice The Fun To Switch With Sonic Double Packs

Two for the price of one

We learned about the existence of these two double packs quite some time ago, but SEGA is just getting around to confirming them today. That's because both are available at retail now! Get the full rundown of these special double packs in the press release below.

Good things come in pairs, Sonic fans! SEGA® of America, Inc. today launched two exciting new game packs, bringing everyone’s favorite Blue Blur to the Nintendo Switch in double form. Players can pick up bundles of Team Sonic Racing and Sonic Mania or Sonic Forces and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD to try their hand at some of SEGA’s ultimate, fan-favorite titles.

Each pack brings together unique gameplay styles. With Team Sonic Racing and Sonic Mania, fans will experience adrenaline-pumping races and speedy side-scrolling gameplay with familiar faces from the Sonic universe. With Sonic Forces and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, players can step into Sonic’s shoes to become a hero in a world ridden with evil and race through stages and challenges with 10 thrilling Party Games as the fastest, most maneuverable monkey around.

SEGA’s new game packs are available today on Nintendo Switch for $39.99 physically at authorized retailers.

Expect this title to be officially announced soon, as it should be released sometime in October 2020.

Sonic Forces + Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD Double Pack looks to be heading to Switch

SEGA doubles down on Double Packs

Just last week, we found out that Sonic Mania and Team Sonic Racing would be getting a 'Double Pack' release on Switch. Looks like that's not the only new Double Pack on the way, as another listing has been spotted on GameFly's site.

According to GameFly's listing, SEGA is going to be releasing a Sonic Forces + Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD Double Pack as well. Their listing includes an Oct. 31st, 2020 release date, which is most likely placeholder, but it doesn't include a price. If we're basing things on the other Double Pack, expect this one to cost $40.

Official Super Monkey Ball Japanese Twitter account shows off 'Super Monkey Cube' gameplay

It's hip to be square

The official Super Monkey Ball Japanese Twitter account shared the above video, which is pretty cut-and-dry. We're looking at Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz HD, but instead of the usual ball we're all used to, Aiai is trapped inside of a cube. What in the world is going on here? Is SEGA teasing some new content down the road? Is this an unlockable in the game that we're unaware of?

Thanks to OperationGamer17 for the heads up!

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD's success could pave the way for remakes of the first two games, or a new installment

Just give me the original Monkey Target, damnit!

It's nice to see the Monkey Ball series getting some love from SEGA, even if it is a remake. SEGA has already shared why they decided to tackle a remake of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, but many fans have been wondering if more could be in the works. In an interview with Crunchroll, SEGA's Masao Shirosaki says there could indeed be some more Monkey Ball action on the way, but it all depends on the sales of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD.

...I am aware that the most favored titles are the first two games. If there is enough support for Banana Blitz HD, this will open up doors for remaking the first two games or even a whole new title to the series. But for now, I’d be happy if everyone has fun playing Banana Blitz HD.

Thanks to OperationGamer17 for the heads up!
