SEGA AGES: Ichidant-R and Columns II Will Put Your Intellect to the Test, Available Today

Two classics up for grabs

IRVINE, Calif. - October 17, 2019 - Lacking mental focus in your daily life? Maybe the best medicine is to try your hand at two mind-bending puzzle games - Ichidant-R and Columns II, now available as part of the SEGA AGES line-up for the Nintendo Switch!

Neither of these titles have ever been released in the West, so this is a fantastic opportunity for many of you to try out them out for the very first time, either locally or online. Whether you're battling your friends in incredibly bizarre mini-games with Ichidant-R, or find yourself gripping the Joy-Con like a vice while playing the Infinite Jewel mode in Columns II, there's plenty of amazing value here to indulge in!

About Ichidant-R

Originally released for Japanese arcades back in 1994, this unique spin-off from Bonanza Bros. features a compilation of wacky mini-games that require sharp thinking and quick reflexes, all set in a fantasy medieval backdrop where you must save a princess from the Demon King. Experience "puzzle and action" in this definitive party game.

About Columns II

Match jewels, fossils, and disks as you take a voyage through time in the second installment of this fun and exciting puzzle series. Control the falling pieces and aim for three-in-a-row in any direction to clear the screen before they stack to the top. Switch between multiple game modes, like "Flash Columns" where you target flashing jewels and unlock secret Jewel Case characters, or "Versus Columns" that pits friends against one another.

Ichidant-R and Columns II are now available individually on the Nintendo Switch eShop in the Americas and Europe for $7.99 (with commensurate European pricing). For more information, please visit the official website at http://segaages.sega.com/.

SEGA AGES: Ichidant-R and Columns II Flex Your Mental Muscles On Oct. 17th, 2019

A double does of SEGA

IRVINE, Calif. - October 3, 2019 - SEGA AGES brings the challenge with two brilliant puzzle games arriving on October 17 only for Nintendo Switch™! Heading to the West for the first time, Ichidant-R pushes the limits of your brain as you hunt for hidden vampires, conduct an orchestra, shoot down UFOs, and much more across 20 wildly varied mini-games that can be enjoyed locally or online! Mega Drive Mode adds in an RPG-like Quest Mode, a unique Competitive Mode designed as a board game for up to four players, and a point-based Free Mode (Note: Mega Drive Mode is presented with Japanese text only).

Another title that was previously released only in Japan, Columns II takes everything fans know and love about the original and dramatically increases the value. Not only is there an online versus mode, a Stage Select feature, and a tabletop mode that rotates Player 2's screen 180 degrees for face-to-face battles, but the original Genesis version of Columns comes bundled in! There's even an Infinite Jewels mode that lets you play virtually forever.

■ Game Modes

Arcade Mode

Enjoy two game types with “Flash Columns,” a stage clear-style game where you match jewels to eliminate them, and “VS Columns,” where you aim for chains to force up the opponent’s field. By eliminating the skull that appears after a certain period of time passes, the floor will rise and the field will get smaller.

The following additional elements have been added to Arcade Mode:

A stage select feature has been added to Flash Columns, allowing you start from any of the 70 stages.
A “Skull Cut” option has been added, which stops the appearance of skulls.
The second player’s field can be flipped 180 degrees to play VS Mode face-to-face when the Switch is placed on the floor / table.
A “Stage Design” option has been added, which allows you to set the design of the field and jewels to your liking—either “Random” or “Columns I.”

Infinite Columns

A new mode original to the Switch version of Columns II. The basic rules are the same as Arcade Mode’s Flash Columns, but rather than a stage clear-style game, it is an endless play-style game. After a certain amount of time passes while playing, jewels will be added to the bottom row so that the floor gradually rises. Also, by eliminating any flashing jewels, all jewels of that same color will be eliminated.

Columns I

In this mode, you can enjoy endless play based on the origin of the series, the original Columns (Genesis / Mega Drive version). When you start the game, you can choose from three background songs.

*This is the same Columns included with the paid “Game Pack” add-on for the Yakuza 0 Companion App for PS Vita.

Network VS

Compete against players online across the country in Arcade Mode’s VS Columns.

■ Bonus Features

Jewel Box

Check the status of the stages you have cleared in Arcade Mode’s Flash Columns. Depending on your level of achievement, you will be able to see brief profiles for Round Girl and Round Boy, the characters that appear in the opening movies of Sega Ages titles.
