Now that's a stretch

If you have a friend to get in on co-op with, The Stretchers can be a really great time. Nintendo is still out to spread the word on this title, and they're doing so in Japan with a print ad in Famitsu. Hopefully a few more people get interested in checking this one out.

Little Nightmares developer Tarsier Studios is behind The Stretchers

A unique collab

Unless you read the full press release for The Stretchers that we shared on Friday, you might not have noticed this interesting tidbit. This Nintendo-published title was actually created by Tarsier Studios, the studio behind Little Nightmares. Obviously Nintendo had some input on the title, but we don't know the extent to which the two studios teamed up. Quite an interesting pairing that I'm sure no one saw coming!

RUMOR - Nintendo has been waiting to release The Stretchers for quite some time

That's a stretch

The Stretchers was a surprise release for the Switch last week, having been announced and launched all within 24 hours. Obviously the release wasn't a surprise to Nintendo, as they created the game! That said, it seems like Nintendo might have been waiting a decent amount of time to release the game.

Dataminer SimonTime went snooping around the backend of the Switch eShop, and found out that the game's first upload was all the way back on May 29th, 2019! Whether that upload was the finished game or just a dummy file is unclear, but it's surprising to see just how far back the game's first appearance on the eShop was!

Team Up to Rescue Dizzied Residents in The Stretchers, Now Available in Nintendo eShop on Switch in North America

Don't forget to stretch!

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- A new comedic co-op puzzle game developed by Tarsier Studios is now available to download on Nintendo.com and in Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo Switch system. In The Stretchers, players take on the role of two medics who must work together to rescue Dizzies, troubled residents dizzied by the evil mastermind Captain Brains, in all kinds of wacky ways. To view a launch trailer of the game in action, visit https://youtu.be/7tfCvYLnwWk.

To rescue Dizzies, players will drive to each scene in their ambulance while breaking through walls, soaring through the sky and facing other perils along the way. Once they’ve arrived, players will need to pile Dizzies up on a stretcher (or grab them by their limbs) and bring them back to the trusty ambulance. Each player controls one of the two medics, so working together and passing a Joy-Con to a friend or family member to carry the stretcher, dodge dangers and overcome physics-based puzzles takes skillful coordination and communication.

Players can team up in local multiplayer using Joy-Con controllers or Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers (sold separately), or a combination of the two, to play, or even go solo, controlling both medics at the same time.

On top of rescuing dizzy citizens in need, the game offers several side missions that involve sawing down trees, building ramps, blowing up rocks with fireworks and even games of hide-and-seek. Players can also unlock additional hats, costume colors and furniture for their home base by exploring mission areas and the world map.

The Stretchers is now available exclusively on Nintendo.com and in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch for $19.99. For more information or to purchase the game, visit https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/the-stretchers-switch/.
