Hades and If Found take home wins at the Gayming Awards 2021

Big wins for great games

The Gayming Awards 2021 were recently held, and some Switch titles took home big wins. You can see a full rundown of the event and the award winners in the press release below.

The queerest night in games has come to a close for this year with nine awards given out at The Gayming Awards 2021 last night to celebrate some of the greatest contributions to LGBTQ inclusion and representation in gaming. The history-making inaugural Gayming Awards were broadcast to an amazing audience of over 110,000 unique viewers.

The winners of each category were chosen by an international judging panel of LGBTQ+ video game industry professionals, with the exception of the LGBTQ Streamer of the Year Award and the Readers’ Award which were decided by public vote.

Robin Gray, founder, and editor of Gayming Magazine, had the following to say on the momentous night: “I am so proud to be able to say we have held the world's first LGBTQ video game award show! 2020 was truly a watershed moment for LGBTQ inclusion in games and to be able to celebrate it with everyone, although virtually, was amazing! Congratulations to all the winners, well done to all the nominees and thank you again to all our sponsors! See you in 2022!”

Colin Blackwood, EA’s UK & Ireland Country Manager, said: “Congratulations to the amazing nominees and winners celebrated tonight. As a founding partner of the #RaiseTheGame pledge, EA are thrilled to sponsor the inaugural Gayming Awards, celebrating and recognising the power of inclusion of LGBTQ+, and diversity of stories and creators, in video games. We look forward to these awards becoming an annual tradition.”

Check out the multi-part documentary series chronicling the development of Hades

From inception to release

Hades has been one of the biggest hits on Switch in 2020, and it continues to see major success this year. SuperGiant has quite the collection of award-winning games under their belt, but Hades is no doubt the biggest. That means more people than ever are hungry for any Hades details they can get.

Documentary crew Noclip has been working on a multi-part documentary series for Hades for years now. They've been following the game since it's early days all the way up to launch. You can check out the introduction to the documentary series above, and then watch the 7 available parts here.

Supergiant shares voiceover stats for Hades, reveals characters with the most/least dialog

That's a hell of a lot of lines!

Hades has some chatty characters, some moreso than others. This has led fans to wonder just how many lines of voiced dialog were recorded for the game. Supergiant saw that fans were asking this question, so they put together the handy infographic above.

Those who've played the game shouldn't find it surprising that Zagreus has the most lines, as he's quite the talkative guy. On the flip side, Charon can barely muster up a discussion. All in all, over 305k words were written for the game's many characters.

Hades player beats the game with a dance pad

Tough as Hell

Hades is a challenging enough game on its own, but players are always looking forward to make games even harder. That's why Twitch streamer PeekingBoo decided to try tackling the experience with a dance pad. It certainly took a lot of time and effort, but PeekingBoo managed to complete the game with just his feet. You can see a snippet of the feat above, or watch the whole thing here.

Supergiant Games creates a 12-hour Hades Yule Log video

Yule love it!

The Yule Log tradition is one that's been around for decades now. For those who can't enjoy a fireplace in real life, there's always countless TV channels and websites that offer a virtual version. This year, even the gang behind Hades got in on the action with their own YouTube Yule Log.

If you're looking to set the holiday mood with a bit of gaming style, you can fire up the above Hades Yule Log video and let it stream for 12 hours straight! That should be more than enough to act as the backdrop to your holiday festivities.

IGN names Hades their Game of the Year for 2020

There were some great games in 2020, with plenty of titles ready to steal away your time, elicit an emotional response, and turn you into a diehard fan. For the gang over at IGN, it was Hades that came out above all other titles in the year. Check out why they feel that way in the video above.

Cross-save feature now available in Hades

Crossing over

Supergiant Games originally said that they wanted to have the cross-save feature out for Hades at launch, but that would have caused a delay. Instead of delaying the game, they launched it without the cross-save feature, and then promised to release it later. Well, that day has finally come!

Those who are playing Hades on both Switch and PC will be happy to know that the cross-save feature is now live. All you have to do is select the cross-save option from the main menu, log in with your PC info, and you're good to go!

Nintendo releases "Six Quick Things! with the Director of Hades" video feature

Hot stuff coming through!

Was Zagreus always meant to be the protagonist in Hades? Join Greg Kasavin of Supergiant Games to learn that and more in a sample platter of game insights and design tidbits in this first episode of Six Quick Things!

The London Philharmonic performs a tribute to The Game Awards 2020's Game of the Year nominees

A stirring medley

While Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Hades were nominated for Game of the Year at the Game Awards, neither won. That said, we still got a lovely musical tribute to all the Game of the Year nominees, and it include segments for both titles. Check out the medley above.
