Twitter user @ArthuurrrP becomes the first human to pull of Mario Kart Wii's Rainbow Road Ultra-shortcut

Speedrunners continue to set records in Mario Kart Wii's Time Trial mode, and just recently, a user was able to successfully pull off a shortcut that was deemed near impossible to accomplish. It is possible to skip a majority of Rainbow Road by using two mushrooms near the start of the track, but the actual jump required to do so requires pixel-perfect precision. But that didn't stop Twitter user @ArthuurrrP from trying the trick over and over until he did it correctly. Congratulations, ArthuurrrP!

Did You Know Gaming - Mario Kart Wii

Did you know?

The Did You Know Gaming series has turned their attention to the biggest-seller on the Wii, Mario Kart Wii. You may have spent hours upon hours playing this one, but there's surely a thing or two you don't know about the game's creation and more. I know I learned a few things!

Mario Kart Wii's "Coconut Mall" theme charts on Spotify following popularity on TikTok

Time for Mario Kart Wii HD!

Here's a story you probably never saw coming! Mario Kart Wii is seeing a bit of a resurgence in popularity right now. Well, it's soundtrack is, and it's all thanks to TikTok.

Over on the social media app, users have been using the Coconut Mall theme from Mario Kart Wii as background music for their videos. The song is being added to videos left and right, which has caused it to appear in quite a few different viral TikToks. In turn, the song's popularity is growing overall.

Believe it or not, the Coconut Mall theme is getting so much attention that it recently debuted at #15 on the US Spotify Viral 50 chart. Even funnier, this is not an official Nintendo upload of the song, as Nintendo doesn't have the Mario Kart Wii soundtrack on Spotify. There's no doubt Nintendo is benefitting from the song's surge in popularity, but they're missing out on the full benefit by not having an official upload on Spotify!

Mario Kart Wii's Luigi Circuit remade in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Breath of the Wild Ride

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is over 3 years old now, but people are still diving deep into the game to find new areas, discover glitches, push for speedrunning records, and more. Then there's a group of players who spend their time cooking up brand-new content for the game. That's exactly what you'll see in the video above.

Modder and YouTube user Waikuteru decided to use his tech savvy to create a Mario Kart experience within The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Waikuteru transported Mario Kart Wii's Luigi Circuit into Zelda: Breath of the Wild, giving Link something brand-new to experience with his fancy motorcycle. How do modders even come up with this stuff?!

A song from Mario Kart Wii is hiding in Paper Mario: The Origami King

Did you catch this one?

Paper Mario: The Origami King has an absolutely phenomenal soundtrack, including tons of new tunes and a few remixed classics. Turns out one of those remixes comes from a complete different Mario series! Check out the video above to see a Mario Kart Wii tune that got quite the rework for Mario's latest RPG adventure!

Mario Kart Wii error accidentally puts mouths on Donkey Kong's feet

Foot and mouth disease

The weirder the bit of trivia, the more it intrigues me. That's why today's finding has me absolutely giddy. It doesn't get much weirder than this.

In Mario Kart Wii, it appears Nintendo made a mistake that lead to a texture issue. When selecting Donkey Kong on the character select screen, you can see a slight issue with Donkey Kong's feet. Turns out a texture issue has lead to Donkey Kong's mouth texture being applied to his feet. It's one of those things you probably never noticed in-game, but now can't unsee it!

Mario Kart Wii mod lets Waluigi run races on foot

Waluigi #1

Who says you need a kart to participate in Mario Kart Wii? Clearly not Waluigi, as you can see in the video above. A modder has decided to take Waluigi and plop him down on the track sans kart, which makes for a pretty hilarious scene. Looks like Waluigi could give Sonic a literal run for his money!

Mario Kart Wii sold five times the units Mario Kart 8 did during the last fiscal year

Mama mia!

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the new hotness, bringing racing fun to Switch players the world over. With that said, it doesn't mean previous Mario Kart installments are dead. From Nintendo's most recent financial briefing, we know that both Mario Kart 8 on Wii U, and Mario Kart Wii are moving units.

Believe it or not, Mario Kart Wii sold five times more than Mario Kart 8 did in the last fiscal year. Mario Kart Wii went from 37.10 million in March 2018 to 37.20 million in March 2019. Mario Kart 8 went from 8.42 million to 8.44 million. That means Mario Kart 8 sold 20k throughout the year, while Mario Kart Wii sold 100k. Mario Kart Wii moving 100k after this many years shows why Nintendo loves their long-tail sellers!

Just to be 100% clear, this is only about Mario Kart 8 on Wii U, and does not include any sales of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch.

Modders turn Super Mario Odyssey's Luncheon Kingdom into a track for Mario Kart Wii

Well I'll be damned. That's a pretty nice looking conversion! Who knows if Nintendo will create a Mario Kart game that includes a Luncheon Kingdom-themed track. Thanks to modders, we don't have to wait to see what it might look like!

Thanks to cm30 for the heads up!
