Niantic apologizes for Pokemon GO Liverpool Safari Zone ticket pricing mistake, listings updated

Pricing problems set right

A number of Pokemon GO fans were upset with how ticket pricing was handled for Liverpool's Pokémon Go Safari Zone event. Some players thought there were hidden service fees that shouldn't have been hidden at all, leading them to complain online, as well as contacting the UK Advertising Standards Authority. Niantic has now responded to the issue and fixed things up. You can see Niantic's statement on the error below.

"Previous advertising for Pokémon Gp Safari Zone Liverpool tickets didn't include the service fee and VAT costs. We're updating all ticket listings today. The ticket pricing is now listed as: '£21.60 for Early Access and £14.40 for General Admission. A £3.60 service fee will be added to each order (up to 4 tickets per order). The City Explorer Pass add-on is £9.60. All prices are inclusive of VAT.'"

For the First Time Ever, Professor Oak Can Battle as a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters

Stoked for Oak!

DeNA Co., Ltd., in partnership with The Pokémon Company, has announced that for the first time ever in Pokémon games, Professor Oak will join the battle as a Pokémon Trainer. Accompanied by his partner, the mythical Pokémon Mew, these characters will be distributed to all players that have logged into the game and completed the tutorial before March 15 at 10:59PM Pacific time. Pokémon Masters, a real-time battling and strategy game, can be downloaded on compatible iOS and Android devices.

A new trailer announcing this update and highlighting Professor Oak’s appearances throughout the Pokémon video game series, including his debut with Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, can be found here on the official Pokémon YouTube channel: (link to come later)

After receiving Professor Oak & Mew, players that have completed Chapter 2 of the Main Story can upgrade this sync pair by completing “Professor Oak & Mew Special Missions.” These missions are available now through March 15 at 10:59PM Pacific time. Players can also experience Professor Oak’s “Sync Pair Story” and learn more about how he met Mew and formed a sync pair with this mythical Pokémon. Other Trainers and Pokémon like Red, Blue, Agatha, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle also make appearances in this “Sync Pair Story.”

DeNA also announced that the Steel-type sync pair of Steven & Metagross has been added to the game. Players can learn more about Steven, the champion of the Hoenn region, in the in-game story event titled “The Strongest There Is,” available to play now until March 15 at 10:59PM Pacific time for those that have completed Chapter 1 of the Main Story. Steven will also be available to obtain in the “Steven Spotlight Poké Fair Scout.” A unique feature of this sync pair, shared only by a few others such as Korrina & Lucario, Blue & Pidgeot, and Agatha & Gengar, is that Metagross transforms into its Mega Metagross form after executing a sync move.

To celebrate these exciting new updates and six months since the game’s launch, players that log in each day from now until February 27 at 9:59PM Pacific time will be able to receive up to 3,000 free Gems. The in-game Pokémon Center will also have new decorations and background music.

Love is in the air! Our annual Valentine’s Day event is back. From Friday, February 14, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, February 17, 2020, at 10:00 p.m. in your local time zone, pink Pokémon will be appearing more often in the wild, in raids, in Eggs, and as Field Research encounters.

Audino, the Hearing Pokémon, and Alomomola, the Caring Pokémon, will be making their Pokémon GO debut! They’ll be appearing in the wild and hatching from 7 km Eggs. Regular Lure Modules activated during the event will last six hours, and you’ll receive a 2× Catch Candy bonus. Pink Pokémon—like Lickitung, Porygon, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Tyrogue, Smoochum, Luvdisc, and Happiny—will be hatching from 7 km Eggs. If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Chansey in the wild or hatch a Shiny Happiny!

Celebrate the lovely occasion with Valentine’s Day–themed avatar items like the Luvdisc Top, Ripped Luvdisc Jeans, and Luvdisc Shoes. Get them in the Style Shop!

Lickitung Raid Day

To continue the pink Pokémon festivities in celebration of Valentine’s Day, there will be a Raid Day featuring Lickitung on Saturday, February 15, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your local time zone! Lickitung will be in four-star raids and know Body Slam! You can receive up to five Raid Passes at no cost during the event by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms. You cannot hold more than one of these Raid Passes at once, and they will not be available after the event ends. Lucky Trainers might encounter Shiny Lickitung!
