Pikmin 3 has been relisted on the Wii U eShop, available again for $19.99

The original Pikmin 3 is back for sale!

The removal of Pikmin 3 from the Wii U eShop caused a bit of controversy back when Pikmin 3 Deluxe was announced for Switch in early August. Due to the large price difference between the versions, it didn't seem very consumer-friendly of Nintendo to completely delist the original $19.99 priced game on Wii U, forcing you to pay $59.99 for the Switch port.

Luckily, it seems the original Pikmin 3 is back for sale on the Wii U eShop in North America, Europe, and Japan. Available again for the "Nintendo Select" sale price of $19.99, it's unknown why the game was removed in the first place, or if it will be removed again closer to the launch of Pikmin 3 Deluxe.

DelistedGames reports that the listing may have actually returned in late August, seemingly unnoticed previously.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe Japanese promo video released

Your intro to Pikmin

Nintendo has released a new promo video in Japan to showcase Pikmin 3 Deluxe, which goes over some of the game's mechanics, as well as Pikmin in general. Give it a watch above!

Pikmin 3's "Scaly Custard" had quite a different name in Japan

Well...it's definitely a good fit!

As is tradition in Pikmin games, everyday items from our world are given completely different names, as the main characters in each game have never seen these items before. That includes batteries, coins, and in the case of Pikmin 3, an avocado.

Back in Pikmin 3 on the Wii U, the avocado is given the name 'Scaly Custard,' as it describes the skin and insides of an avocado. That localized name is extremely different from what Japanese audiences saw. In the Japanese version of the game, the avocado is called a 'Crocodile Scrotum!'

I think it's pretty safe to say that Pikmin 3 Deluxe is going to retain the 'Scaly Custard' name for it's localization!

Pikmin 3 Deluxe packaging now available in Japan (picture and translation courtesy of @PushDustIn)

According to PushDustin's latest set of Tweets, a new display in Japan showcases what the back of the Pikmin 3 Deluxe Switch boxart may look like. It mentions some of the new features coming to the game, such as difficulty options and the Piklopedia, and it also mentions that Nintendo Switch Online may be necessary for some features (presumably just leaderboards). Either way, it looks like the game may have some more announcements headed our way. Here's hoping that Nintendo elaborates on the details soon!

Pikmin 3 Deluxe initial stock for France detailed

Nintendo has some confidence in this one

Pikmin 3 Deluxe is seeing a worldwide launch on Oct. 30th, 2020, and there will be a physical option for those who want one. That includes our friends in France, and we now have word on just how many units there'll be to go around.

According to retail supply sources, it seems that Pikmin 3 Deluxe will have 100,000 units to go around on launch day. This is actually quite sizable for a Pikmin game, which shows that they're expecting this title to at least garner a sizable amount of attention at launch.
