Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and the Call of Duty Endowment team up to bring fans a new kart for a good cause

Racing for a good cause

Get ready to jet across the track, Crash™ Team Racers!

Activision is proud to present the Firehawk, a special Kart in Crash™ Team Racing Nitro-Fueled that is modeled after a classic military plane. Put your favorite Crash Bandicoot™ racer in the captain’s seat and soar across the finish line with this unique in-game item.

As the first “plane” to make its way to CTR Nitro-Fueled, not only does the Firehawk look fly on the racetrack, it also supports a great cause: The Call of Duty Endowment, whose logo is featured prominently near the plane’s tail.

As of today, players in the U.S. and U.K. will be able to purchase the Firehawk kart directly from the PlayStation™Store, the Microsoft® Store, or the Nintendo eShop, and 100% of proceeds received by Activision for this special item will go directly to funding non-profits that place veterans in the US and UK into high quality civilian jobs. This item will be available up until $1 million USD has been raised for the cause.

Decked out in fighter-jet green, the Firehawk is a must-have kart to add to your collection!

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled 'Spooky Grand Prix' details and trailer revealed

Crash gets spooky!

Beware Bandicoots, it’s a bone-chilling ride with the latest Grand Prix season to hit Crash™ Team Racing Nitro-Fueled! Download the update for this season and be ready to take part in the Spooky Grand Prix and all that comes with it: a new track, new characters, new items to unlock, and even a new challenge type. Additionally, this update introduces some big gameplay updates that fans have been asking for. Without further ado, let’s dive into all that’s new in the Spooky Grand Prix!

The Hunt is On

This season introduces a host of new rewards that can be earned by completing challenges, earning Nitro, and filling your Nitro Gauge throughout the season. There’s a special new challenge type this season – track down some spooky spirits with Ghost Hunt! For the duration of this Grand Prix, breaking certain crates will release a mischievous ghost that was trapped inside. Catch up to the ghost to capture it and complete Grand Prix challenges. The more of these crates you break, the more ghosts will be flying around and the more challenges you can complete! As a note, you will only be able to see the ghosts you have released, and these spectral beings won’t get in the way of your racing. They are there to be captured if you dare!

A Villainous Crew

Wreak havoc on the track with Nina Cortex, Dr. N. Brio, and Komodo Moe, the devious trio of fan favorite Crash universe characters that make their way to CTR Nitro-Fueled this season. Nina makes her entrance in the Nitro Gauge, while N. Brio and Komodo Moe can be found in the Pit Stop.

Behold, the Nightmare!

Navigate the dark recesses of Nina Cortex’s mind in Nina’s Nightmare! In this new track you will race through misty marshes, eerie gardens, and twisted hallways of a haunted manor. Dodge your way around pumpkins spitting green ooze that can slow you down to a dead stop. Keep your head in twisted hallways under the foreboding eyes of ancestors long since passed. Then, confront the most terrifying sight of all – a beastly spider-pumpkin hellbent on stomping you into the ground!

Bone-chilling New Rides

This season also brings a trio of new karts to give your competition the chills! Embrace the mysteries of the deep with Nautilus, put the competition to rest with Skull Rider, or play a haunting tune with the Phantom – an ornate ride adorned with candles and piano keys, inspired by the Organ Grinder kart from Crash Tag Team Racing. Nautilus and Phantom can be earned in the Nitro Gauge, while Skull Rider can be unlocked in the Pit Stop.

Wicked New (and Returning) Pit Stop Items

The Pit Stop will be stocked with tons of new items, themed perfectly for the season. Give your kart some ethereal flair with Spectral wheels and paint jobs or the spooky new stickers and decals. Then get some of your favorite characters ready for the season with wicked new skins.

Also, for those that missed them the first time around, select characters and items from the first Grand Prix, the Nitro Tour, are making their return to the Pit Stop in this Grand Prix season. Be sure to stop by to see what’s new and what has returned!

Climb the Leaderboards

As with the prior Grand Prix seasons, both the Championship and Nitro Leaderboards will be back and refreshed in the Spooky Grand Prix. As a note to new players, the Championship Leaderboard tracks players’ performance in the Grand Prix season via a points-based system. The Nitro Leaderboard tracks total Nitro Points earned during the Grand Prix season. Those that finish the season in the top 5% of either leaderboard will get the Champion Kart (if they don’t have it already), and a brand new Signature Decal for the Spooky Grand Prix!

Evergreen Game Updates

Aside from the spine-tingling content dropping with the Spooky Grand Prix, there are a couple of updates Beenox has made that will remain in place indefinitely.

Swapping Driving Styles:

We’ve heard you loud and clear! In CTR Nitro-Fueled, it is now possible to select your desired Driving Style, regardless of the character you choose to race with. Get that top speed with Crash, or take those sharp turns with Crunch, you can now pick your favorite style and your favorite racer at the same time!

On top of that, a new “Drift” driving style has been added to the mix, making that a fifth driving style to choose from!

Finally, the existing Driving Styles have been renamed to more clearly describe their function:

- Beginner is now Turn

- Intermediate A is now Balanced

- Intermediate B is now Acceleration

- Advanced is now Speed

These Driving Styles will be able to be selected at the same time you are selecting your racer before each race. A sixth Driving Style option, ‘’Classic’’, will select your character’s original Driving Style by default.

Wumpa Time for Everyone:

Also due to popular demand, the daily “Wumpa Time” bonus will now carry over to all game modes, including Adventure and Local Arcade! As long as the player’s console is connected to the internet, players now have the opportunity to earn 2x Wumpa Coins for the first 30 minutes of racing time per day.

Warp Orbs and N. Tropy Clocks:

To further improve the racing experience, AI drivers will no longer use the N. Tropy Clock and Warp Orb power ups in Online Matchmaking races. Additionally, these power ups will no longer appear for anyone at the beginning of Online Matchmaking races.

The Lost Cup:

Finally, a brand new Cup Race has been introduced – the Lost Cup. This race includes Oxide Station (from CTR), Clockwork Wumpa (from CNK), Twilight Tour (from the Nitro Tour Grand Prix), and Prehistoric Playground (from the Back N. Time Grand Prix).

With these quality of life changes to Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, and the exciting new content and challenges that are dropping this week, it is sure to be a ghoulishly good time out on track in this Spooky Grand Prix season! Don’t get scared out there, Bandicoots…!

Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled updates, content additions, grand prix event, and new features coming July 3rd, 2019, patch notes shared

A massive update

Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled has a big round of new content on the way, and it's set to launch July 3rd, 2019. A full rundown of what the update includes has been shared by the developers, which you can find below.

The update is set to go live on July 3*, along with the first Grand Prix**, the amazing Nitro Tour. Below are details of what will be included in the patch.

Features and Content Additions:

1. Introduction of the Grand Prix content:

The Nitro Tour Grand Prix will be going live and you can begin earning Nitro Points and unlocking a variety of bonus customization content by completing challenges found within the Grand Prix menu†.

“Twilight Tour” will be a brand-new track available to Local Arcade and Online modes. The character Tawna will able to be earned through completing Grand Prix challenges and earning Nitro Points. You will also be able to earn additional new items including karts, skins, stickers, decal, and paint jobs!

Note: Tawna and the items described above can only be earned for a limited time by completing Grand Prix challenges while connected to the internet. Once the current Grand Prix season ends, they will no longer be available to earn through Grand Prix challenges until they may appear in the Pit Stop at a later date.

2. Introduction of Online Leaderboards:
Leaderboards will be added to the Grand Prix Menu.

· Nitro Point Online Leaderboard

You can earn Nitro Points by completing challenges accessible in the Grand Prix menu. The more Nitro Points you gather, the higher you’ll climb the leaderboard!

· Championship Leaderboard

You can earn points based on your performance while playing online multiplayer: You’re given a number of points each time you complete a race in online multiplayer†. You receive more points the higher your placement is when each race is over (first is the most, and eighth place is the least). The Leaderboard is unlocked after you finish your first online race.

Leaderboard rewards will be distributed on the first day following the Grand Prix and will reset at the end of each Grand Prix season.

3. The Pit Stop

A variety of new content will be added to the Pit Stop including karts, characters, character skins, decals, paint jobs, wheels, and kart stickers that can be redeemed with Wumpa Coins†. Don’t forget to check the Pit Stop to see refreshed content!

When visiting the Pit Stop, you’ll notice that items that were added as part of the Nitro Tour Grand Prix have little Nitro cannisters over their icons. You’ll notice the same thing in the customization menu over the same icons. This small Nitro cannister with a percentage tied to it denotes the extra Nitro Point boost you’ll get whenever completing challenges with these customization options equipped. The percentage increase stacks with each customization item you have equipped. So get collecting, and get stacking!

As a special call-out to some of the new additions, the “Nitro Squad” characters Ami, Megumi, Isabella, and Liz can be redeemed using Wumpa Coins in the Pit Stop and flags from nations around the world will be added as kart stickers.

4. Online
Podium animations will be added to online matches when you finish in the top 3 of an online multiplayer race.

5. User Interface Improvements

A “Message of the Day” feature will be added to the Main Menu. Check back daily when your system is connected to the internet for important messages!

6. Wumpa Coin Earn Rate

Adjustments will be made to the Wumpa Coin earn rate, and additional information on the earn rate will be added to the end-of-race report, so you can know how you got to your number.

7. Character Icons

The mini-map icons and racer icons will now represent the character skin that you have equipped.

8. Patches: Issues of Note

The following issues will be addressed in the patch:

8a. Global Save File Corruption Issue on PS4:

Will address the global save data issue that has been affecting PS4 players

8b. Pit Stop:

Will address an issue where Users were unable to purchase the “Electron Aqua” paint from the pit stop.

8c. Online:

Will address various known online stability issues related to the lobby, arcade, adventure, other parts of the game, and menus.

8d. Tracks:

Collisions of certain maps have been reworked to remove stuck spots and possible exploit areas, along with an improvement to fidelity.

8e. User Interface:

An issue where personal Time Trial and Relic scores are not highlighted in the “Highscores” menu will be addressed.

8f. Community Feedback:

All villains from CNK will now be protected by the Velo mask when racing with that Power Up.

That’s it for this patch. If you have a question or issue while playing the game, feel free to reach out to Activision Support; we’re more than happy to assist you!

*Exact timing of patch subject to change.

**Grand Prix content and timing subject to change.
