Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled reveals how many players have connected for online play across platforms

Have you hopped online?

Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled has been out for a bit now, and it's tearing up the sales charts. The game seems to be doing well across all platforms, but what's the online userbase like for each version? The way the leaderboards are currently set up reveals, at the very least, the amount of players who have connected online.

- PlayStation 4: 1,017,723 connected players
- Xbox One: Over 240,000 connected players
- Switch: 171,445 connected players

Switch comes in third hitting just over 171k connected players. This does not reflect total sales of the game on Switch. We're also not sure if this number is impacted by any terms of service agreements that players can opt in/out of.

Multiple Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled character skins see name changes following complaints of racial insensitivity

Quietly patched just a few days back

Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled recently got an update, and there's something of note in the tweaks that wasn't mentioned in the patch notes. Some character skins have gone through name changes after some players pointed out that the names could be considered racially insensitive.

The biggest changes come to Tawna, Crash's former girlfriend. One of Tawna's skins was named 'Watermelon Tawna,' which some players took offense to, as Tawna has darker fur and was wearing a watermelon t-shirt. While artwork for the skin remains the same, the name has now been changed to 'Summertime Tawna.'

There are other skins which have been changed as well. The 'White Tawna' has been renamed to 'White Tiger Tawna,' and other skins with 'Black' or 'White' have been changed.

Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled - Nitro Tour Grand Prix gameplay

“Nitro Tour” is the first Grand Prix season, which is now live. Players will be able to roll up to the starting line of an all-new track called Twilight Tour. If you’ve played Crash Bandicoot™ 3: Warped, this track will look a bit familiar, as it’s partially based on the fan-favorite Ancient Egypt and Arabian Town worlds that Crash explored via the Time Twisting Machine in that game.
