The live-action Knuckles spin-off series premieres on Paramount+ today, and the series bridges the gap between the Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 films. This new live-action series will follow Knuckles (Idris Elba) on a fun, action-packed journey of self-discovery as he agrees to train Wade Whipple (Adam Pally) as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior.

While Knuckles is obviously the focus of this Paramount+ show, Wade Whipple gets a ton of screen time as well. Whipple is brought to life by actor Adam Pally, and he spoke on what it’s like being the character and acting opposite a CG co-star in an interview with Comicbook.com.

“I just like playing him. I like playing someone who’s willing to get their heart broken. Because if you’re willing to go through that, you have to look at everything with such a positive mindset, knowing that this time it may go my way, you know? I don’t think I live that way enough, and so it’s nice to go to work every day and put that suit on and deal with things in that manner.

It’s always nice when a character learns that the thing that they felt they didn’t have was actually inside them all along, because I think that that’s pretty true to most people in real life. And it doesn’t have to mean an adventure with a powerful alien echidna, it can be something small, but if you’re open to finding that thing about yourself and working on it and changing it, then you can become a better version of yourself.”
