Japanese gamers, for the most part, don't want an Assassin's Creed set in Japan

Would you like to see the Assassin's Creed series tackle Japan? Seems like an idea that would birth some interesting ideas, but Ubisoft isn't too keen on the approach. They say that there are enough ninja games out there, and apparently Japanese gamers agree with the decision to stay away.

Here's the difference, though. Japanese gamers want Ubisoft to stay out of a Japanese-set Assassin's Creed because they feel Ubisoft couldn't do the job right.

"Ninja games that foreigners make are weird, so no thanks."

"Foreigners cannot reproduce Japan. It's because they lack a Japanese soul."

"There's no way they can understand Japan, so forget it."

"They'd probably skip the background research and end up with this odd, stereotypical version of Japan, so no thanks."

A small sampling of comments, but the vast majority sounded like this. Japanese gamers don't think foreign devs can handle a ninja game in the 'correct' way. How do you feel about that accusation?
