We have to remember Mario Party 8 was a launch title, and it was released when console games were still selling well.

I'll say that Mario Party is the only series of "party" games that ever interested me. This sales dip is showing that the casual is falling out of gaming. Mainstream people create fads and find new ones. There won't be much of a casual fanbase in the next generation of gaming. They found new things to do. I hope the companies are prepared for that.
