I'm in the middle of playing this game right now. I just got it from a pawn shop for CHEAP, it's a lot of fun on easy, it's kind of to tough on medium, but it's a great game overall. The protagonist reminds me of Samus crossed with a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, in a good way. The animations of the main character are the real star, shes sexy and sassy with a ton of attitude.
I always liked this game. It's like a traditional shmup mixed with TPS elements. Awesome.
I know everyone hated it back then but I thought it was quite interesting. And I agree Vanessa Schneider was a cool character with one hell of an attitude.
One of my fav GC games, believe it or not. Was released at a time when lots of goodies came out, and I have fond memories. Loved the slightly ambient techno music in the later stages. Really challenging. I believe I finished it on hard and it was HARD! For me, it's one of those classic gamecube games that sits next to my copy of Metroid Prime, Windwaker, and Paper Mario. Loved it to death... too bad everyone else hated it. Kinda makes me think of Metroid Other-M in terms of a game that I really enjoyed that just about everyone else hated (and yes, Other-M is one of my wii classic games that I know I'll play again and again in the future). So glad these games were made at least once.
Oh, and this game was so much like a classic arcade shoot-em-up but in 3rd person perspective. Best part was that it was like classic *REAL* video games in that it was pretty hard and required a lot of button mashing while twitching the controller with accuracy.
Ah, curse you all. Bad memories. I was almost finished playing this on the hardest mode clearing all 50 extra missions when my Memory Card got lost... Was around Mission 8 or 9 too. There was much sadness.
I am pretty interested in trying the game. Although, if Vanessa's ass and general being female-ness is thrown in your face that much, that will hamper some of my interest in it. But it does look really fun and good~. And challenging. . .

It's not all sexualized as that gif would suggest. We can all appreciate dancers right?

Ahh, alrighty. That's quite a relief. I don't mind sexuality (and I think media and society could benefit from more sexuality, but better handled), but if it's handled pretty cheaply, it kills my enjoyment of it.
Dancers can most certainly be appreciated~. I actually rather love that Vanessa seems to be very rhythmic. It'd be another thing to add to the list of reasons to get the game~.
if capcom has any sense, they'd consider making a follow up for the wii U. sadly, these days they're too obsessed with resident evil and street fighter games to care about any of their other franchises.
Love this game, and Vannessa is sexy. Capcom missed a huge oppurtunity not putting a sequel/prequel on Wii. The control scheme would've been perfect. Anywho, glad i still have my copy.
Anyway, those five games Capcom had in the works were my most wanted for GC... especially Dead Phoenix. It looked like Monster Hunter but with free-roam flying while fighting hordes of creatures running and flying about... the game of my dreams. That to me was the biggest loss out of those games, IMO.

P.N.03 looks pixelly when compared to most Wii games, it does displays in 4/3 progressive scan though. The geometry in the game is fine but the rooms are all separated by quick load-ins.
Is Dead Phoenix the game that was rumored to be re-branded as Kid Icarus for Wii?
"Because the one thing everyone should remember about P.N.03 is that mastering a character's move set can be every bit as satisfying as beating bosses and conquering worlds."
This needs to be etched onto a stone tablet and hurled at most developers.

I'm Lovin' it!!! Oh my do I miss that!
I had to quote it again... just beautiful.

This is probably a clear example being so entranced in reviews you miss out on great games...

The game wasn't perfect, but I did enjoy it. It's one of the few games I wish has a second chance.

Always great to see PN03 getting more love.
