RUMOR - Nintendo rep says Nintendo Land to be pack-in, talks price and more

This information comes from a long-time reader that has been very trustworthy with information. I don't want to give out there name, as I want to keep them safe. Just believe me when I say that info they've given us in the past has been spot on.

- Wii U will be 'about $300)
- expect the big push for Wii U to kick off in September
- Nintendo Land will 'definitely' be a pack-in
- don't expect a digital version since the physical copy will be packed in with each box

All sounds very plausible to me. We'll find out what rings true in a few months!

Pre-order bonus?

Either him and or the Bird and Zelda Tech [Video] Demos pre-installed on your Wii U system. *drools* 8)

A lot of people with a Wii in Japan, apparently. It wasn't packaged in there, and it sold over 3 million. That's pretty good.

This is good, because it's what I'm expecting. When it says the push will happen in September, I think that means when the marketing push will start, not when the system is released. I would love a September release though, if everything were ready. Also, I'm hoping (likely in vain) that Nintendo titles, aside from maybe Zelda, will be $50. At least with NSMBU and Pikmin 3...

300 for a next Gen system, a pack in, and a tablet controller is too much? Yeah, okay

But does the specs pass the mythical requirements some people have for it to be called "next gen" lol

Me neither with how much games already cost to develop that one bomb can cause a smaller studio to go under. And what ever happened to generations being defined by time frame instead of graphical capability, or was it always like that? (I didn't pay attention to the console wars till mid-2000s).

I would rather it be $300 with it packed in, then have it be $250 without it packed in, and have nintendo land cost $50. lol

I am hoping for Nintendo Land to be a pack-in game. They keep saying they want it to be the Wii U's answer to Wii Sports, and of course the only reason why that game was so big was because it came with every system sold (if it didn't, then I would have hoped for it to be a budget release).

Also, $300 is fine by me. Hey, anything is better than the PS3's launch price of $600.

Why bother putting this on a disc? seriously? you have a golden opportunity here to educate and introduce every single person who buys the system to your digital store.

and if you don't want to use the bandwidth, just have it installed on the system already, just take people through a video/interactive tour where at the end they "download" the game that is already on their system.

Alright if NL is a pack-in, then that's fine. Though I'd like the option of paying $50 less or what not for a system without it too. At the same time though, I am glad Nintendo brought back the concept of the pack-in game, which went away in the mid 90s with the N64 and all.

@gtt
That is an ingenious idea and it should happen. Props to you! :D

ty sir. and I didn't even get paid for it. But, if nintendo wants to go through the expense of pressing and shipping discs they intend to give away for free... by all means.

Everything we've been hearing seems to be pointing at between $250 and $300, which is very reasonable when you consider how expensive the other next gen consoles probably will be.

@KingJames7
I thought a system only required to be new to be considered next-gen.

This rumor seems too safe. It's what almost everyone thinks will happen.

Tell that to the people that keep calling it a current gen system.

I wonder what will be included with the bundle. Gamepad and game for sure but will it include a downloadable title or wii remote plus or nunchuck. Will there be an official nintendo hard drive? I could see multiple bundles.

If there is a nintendo hard drive, I won't be getting one. it will probably be too small and overly expensive. So I hope that if they do, it won't be the only solution.

Day 0 purchase for me (as in as soon as I can my hands on it).
That would hit the sweet spot.

That's pretty much exactly what I'm expecting/hoping for. It's a great value with the game packed in.

300 I feel like I am stealing it. Way too cheap for all it's packing.

Nintendo Land would make more sense, to come preloaded as a digital game -or better yet:
Allow new WiiU owners the luxury of obtaining it Free by downloading it off of the Nintendo Network, so as to introduce their new services & connected features! (it would save a few dollars on packaging if it is to be a pack-in)

Btw, that control pad is like $100, so WiiU cannot be the same price as the Wii ($250), so $299.99 is RIGHT!

personnaly I still expect 350$.
