Camelot says request another Golden Sun if you want one to happen

A portion of a Nintendo-Gamer interview with Camelot's Hiroyuki Takahashi...

NG: Camelot also made the amazing Golden Sun. Dark Dawn ended on a massive cliffhanger. Any plans to tell us what happens next? Don’t keep us hanging!

HT: I’m very pleased that you enjoyed Dark Dawn. RPGs take a very long time to make and need a lot of effort. As you will appreciate if you have played the game, the number of ideas that went into the story was rather substantial. When writing a story like that for a Golden Sun game, I really feel like I am pouring my soul into it and when I am finished, I always feel really drained. Everyone else working on the project also really devoted themselves to it, treating it like their life’s work. So it really is a huge encouragement to us to get a positive reaction from the people who play the game.

A big reason for us making RPGs comes from the requests from all the people who have enjoyed our RPGs in the past. Perhaps if there are enough Nintendo users asking for another game in the Golden Sun series, then this will naturally lead to the development of such a game.

Speaking personally from the perspective of the story, I think that honestly it may not be so likely because Golden Sun really requires a full effort to be put in. But of course, if there are enough people saying that we really must create another game, then we may just have to listen to them. Still, you would need to give me a bit of time to work on ideas for the story before we could release a fourth game in the series.

A fourth game in the series would be a great way to make up for Dark Dawn if they did it right.

The first game wasn't spectacular either, but it was made awesome retroactively by The Lost Age being pretty much the best thing ever. They can do it again.

I really want to see another game. I agree that Dark Dawn wasn't as strong as the 1st two titles, but I really want to see what happens next.

I bought the last Golden Sun and played it for like 4 hours. It is a very different experience from the GBA games. It's almost like the magic is gone. There used to be a genuine feeling that I got from playing the GBA games but I can't find it in the DS game. If they do make another one, I'll support it. Hopefully it will be on the 3DS.

Honestly, I would much rather have a 3DS remake of the GBA titles. That would be a day one purchase from me. :)

@Hadrian
Generic? Looks like you never played this series. You can use your skills in the enviroment in order to move objects, read people's minds, use plants to reach higher places etc. The story is also unique and full of twists.

Maybe you don't enjoyed the game (it's really not for everyone) but there is nothing generic about this game.

Man I hope they make a sequel, its always so frustrating to hear that it might not happen even after leaving us with a cliff hanger, my hope is that the fandom for this series spreads enough so we won't ever have to deal with these 'it might not happen' scenarios.

Pretty much what most of you think.

Basically goes like this:

1st game was awesome.
2nd game was HOLY ! AWESOME!
3rd game was "Well..... can I at least go back to this town?... what?! not there either!? WHY NOT!? Ugh...."

Then the end of the story left SO many things open... I wanted to see more epic stuff and it lacked a bit on it. I would go on to describe a couple more stuff I liked and didn't like but I'll leave that for some other time.

Anyway, yes Camelot, make up for that third installment. It was weak, but with the right connection with a true sequel, it can be redeemed. Please work on Golden Sun 4 and make it as good as Lost Age was to the first book.

Thanks in advance.

Why do companies keep telling us we have to make special requests just to get games nowadays? It's getting rediculous.

Come on, Camelot, you can do this! Resolve all of the unresolved plotlines from Dark Dawn, bring back the rest of the original cast, throw in some light and dark magic, and end it with Alex turning into a nine-headed dragon or something! If you do all that, I'll buy five games. I love the Golden Sun series.

It's one of the better RPGs out there, Nintendo should back it more. Nintendo don't have a Real FPS or RPG Golden Sun should be part of the Mario/Zelda/Metroid family! I want more!

Got Dark Dawn on Christmas last year, I‘m yet to beat it, but still, gimme more Golden Sun, my only real complaint with Dark Dawn is that random battles are way too random.

The only thing that bothered me about Dark Dawn was that it just felt like...the intro to a much bigger story. So much stuff was left unresolved, and it felt like it ended right as it was getting really good and interesting. Right before we got to see the Sol Sanctum for the first time since Golden Sun 1. You know what a really satisfying series finale would be? Alex as the final boss.

The really annoying thing about a lot of these companies is there isn't a very easy way to talk to the development studios. You have to go through the big company, which, in many cases, means the messages don't get through.

Yes, please!
I'd love another, Camelot!

I like Camelot's thinking.

> End Golden Sun 3 with a cliffhanger
> Say "We don't think there's need for another, but if you want it, we'll make it. Also, we have no story planned".

I jest. How do you make a cliff hanger, a blatant one, and not plan ahead to make a sequel?

Anyway, I love the series. Do want.

No, thanks. The series has never been all that amazing, and I gave Dark Dawn a shot after all those years, and wasn't impressed. So, nah, I'd rather have them focus on other IP's instead.

It'd be nice to see a Wii U Golden Sun game in GLORIOUS HD.

Thought the first two were kinda overrated, but logged many hours into and enjoyed both of them. Dark Dawn was pretty bad, though.

Damn it! Another cliff hanger that won't be resolved!

I want GS4

Personally, I'd rather see them turn Zelda into an RPG. On the other hand, they left us hanging. Especially after we got that sword. It's like ending a Metroid game after you get the missile. The adventure is just beginning.
