Coming from Eurogamer...
One developer working on a key AAA franchise port told us anonymously that the Nintendo toolchain is "fighting us every step of the way", suggesting that plenty of work still needs to be done in getting development workflow up to scratch.
This is pretty much the first time we've heard anything like this from a third party dev. Now that the system is out, I'm guessing we'll be hearing the more ugly comments from devs. They'll remain anonymous, of course!

I think other than this guy whining the real news is about the "key AAA" franchise port.
nintendo is f'n screwed. when the ps4 and next xbox launch all this port crap is going to disappear. cant expect third parties to even try to put out dedicated properties for it either, cause of what they didnt do on the original wii.
thank you Nostradamus
Developers/Publishers are dropping left and right. Do you honestly think that all of a sudden when the new PS and XBOX consoles release that any of the current consoles are doing to be dropped?
I bet you see the hardware lives of the 360 and PS3 extended much like the PS2.
Eurogamer's at it again
Bet it's the SuperMeatBoy developer wanting more spotlight so 'insert BS here'.
Wii U uses kiddy hardware just like Wii and GC?
I mean if Nintendo would use "hardcore" hardware in their system, it would make making a "hardcore" game easier.
Nintendo does not care about appeasing the 'hardcore' crowd.
@M1 Gamecube uses kiddie hardware?
It didn't win the last generation, so yes, it apparently does.
@jlatimer11 but the wii won this generation, so that is hardcore hardware?
Really guys? Kiddy? Hardcore?
Obviously devs will have issues as it is a new platform. If there was an extreme issue with the hardware then we would see a much bigger outcry. I don't see the point of this dev saying this as I'm sure they will get through it some how.
It is a long running joke about the Gamecube that stems from RE4 unveiling.
Many gamers thought it was impossible for Gamecube to run game with that graphic style due to the hardware being built for games like Windwaker and Mario1
I was being sarcastic.... probably should have noted it.
@jlatimer11 what!? You weren't serious!? Next thing you'll tell me is that M1 actually believes all the things he says!
Too much sarcasm! Head going to explode!
so... don't just have a WiiU this generation? Gotcha.
Please, people, stop feeding the trolls!
His name is Shaanyboi.
You say this...
Eurogamer's one of the biggest anti Nintendo websites I've ever seen.. Been reading and visiting the website for years but those guys are among the biggest Nintendo haters I've ever seen.PERIOD!
This just in = Not all developers are created equal. Some who have been praising the Wii U hardware and it's ease of development, are probably (just a hunch) better at making games than certain others. That doesn't mean every dev is going to feel that way, but my bet is that the better development teams will get the most out of the hardware, and have the easiest time doing so. What a concept.
If nobody read the whole article, he says it will get better over time.
I'd need to know what developer it is and what game they are working on. The term "AAA title" is used to loosely these days. Really, unless your game is going to sell 10 million+ copies or averages about 95% or higher in reviews, I don't think a game should be consider a "AAA title." That would mean there are 2-6 "AAA titles" per year.
History backs him up. It's called the GameCube and the Wii and heck, even the N64 has troubles (at least compared to the PS1). Still, it is way early to jump to conclusions. So far, things look better than either console
I disagree. They're generally very positive about Nintendo games. A lot of the recent major Nintendo releases have been getting 8s and 9s from them. A quick glance shows that they're often above the average Metacritic score as well. Nintendo also gets a decent amount of exposure as well, since the "Recently Published" front page sidebar displays Nintendo news and reviews instead of burying them like some other sites do.
