The latest issue of Nintendo Dream has features a greeting card from GameFreak. This card features a message from Junichi Masuda. The message, while short, says GameFreak intends to further evolve the world of Pokémon in 2013. Vague, but at least it's something to look forward to! Thanks to VGAMER for the heads up!

Still waiting on that Dunsparce evolution.
I hope its not Gen 6 already. It's too early for a new gen release.
3DS! 3DS! 3DS!
How fun
I remember reading that one of the top people from Gamefreak said this generation would be shorter than previous ones. But not sure if they're referrering to the anime, or the games. The anime makes sense seeing as they're already at the finals. Maybe Gamefreak intended this generation to be short due to the imminent release of the 3DS a few years ago.
Believe.
Believe!
BELIEVE!
They're just talking about the 3DS. That's all.
OK, so everyone's only able to speculate right now so...
Evolving from DS consoles with two small screens to Wii U with a large touch screen and much, much larger HD TV!
Well, it would fit perfectly!
Only if it is a spin-off. But it is likely they are referencing 3DS main line games with full 3d whooplah.
That seemed pretty obvious. There's no games in the pipeline and we've already revealed all the Pokemon in 5th gen.
@archer9234
What does that even mean? Unless you mean making 3DS games, which is obvious, but they've already made 2 and 2.5 apps.
@MegaMan64
I was thinking this a while back, but they already plowed through the generation.
We've been introduced to all 649 Pokemon already (though only Japan has Meloetta, even though we have merch and she was on the show), we have 4 Gen 5 main games (2 sets of 2), PokePark 2, Rumble Blast, Conquest and now Mystery Dungeon, and the 3 apps. And that Typing game.
As much as I would be comfortable with sitting in gen 5 a little longer (it's only been 2 years), it seems pretty obvious that Gen 5 is being rushed since they know people are whining for a true 3DS Pokemon game. So blame that.
Not by much. Next gen info generally rolls around during the third year. Plus the movies are on the final known Pokemon, Genesect, which they are before a new generation gets revealed.
Speaking of which, it is already looking VERY likely the short with the movie will reveal a new Eeveelution (check the logo, it's also at this point a next gen Pokemon gets a minor role in a movie or its short)
Care to share that logo? Or to explain what is actually showing that in it? Because, honestly, I can't see anything like that in the one I found.
(sorry if this sounds like I'm a jerk, it's not what I intended. I'm genuinely curious!)
This gen is only 2 years old, it's insane.
It'll be 3 year old in japan, and it'll be 3 here too in 2014 (usually the games get released one year later here)
If by 'evolve' you mean 'continue to exist'...
something tells me we're still gonna be battling mode 7 sprites this time next year
@Elfteiroh
That, and Gen V has already surpassed Gen I lengthwise...so I don't understand what everyone's deal is.
Into Gen VI.
Looks like an XD/ Stadium title for 5th Gen isn't happening. :/
I sure hope it evolves to have one of the main games becoming an action RPG.
...because 5th gen was to me the most boring gen ever. I played Gen 4 so much I maxed out my wallet. I quit Gen 5 before even bothering with the Elite 4 a second time.
On the source site - Serebii - it says "during 2013, they intend to further evolve the world of Pokémon". That sounds a lot less exciting than "Pokemon series set to evolve in 2013". "[F]urther evolve" doesn't have to mean anything more than release new spin-offs.
So he is finally going to make a Pokemon game for "hardcore" gamers?
"further evolve" by making a Pokemon Emerald remake with Gen V pokemon.
Doesn't that already exist with EV training?
Nope.
Of course it does.
Sounds like me. Exactly^^^^
I hated almost all the fugly Pokemon this gen. Couldn't even find a Pokemon I liked until I reached the desert. (¬¸¬) I also have Black 2 and I still haven't bothered to go beyond the 1st gym despite it having Pokemon from past gens. This is my 1st least favorite gen by far. Never thought I'd say that since I've always loved every gens new Pokemon.

Btw I wonder if now they'll stick to just making brand new Pokemon or will they return again to making new evolutions for some old ones.
