Wow, there's a lot of jumping between screens, loading, starting the e-shop, loading, finding the DLC you want to purchase, loading, waiting, jumping over to the downloaded files screen, loading, jumping back out to close down the game screen, installing, waiting, and then restarting the game before you can actually play the new content.
Not a very elegant system. The in-game DLC system in NSMB2, for example, is much more streamlined.
it's possible this is just this game though. Lets remember, a lot of the functionality for a ton of the system wasn't really available to developers until the final hour, hence no 3rd party Miiverse support at launch.
