Namco Bandai planning gaming restaurant

- titled "Level 256"
- to be located in US
- high-end food and entertainment
- possibly starting in Chicago
- could lead to a full-on chain
- will involve pool, shuffleboard, video games, or "new immersive attractions."

"It's no secret that we've been exploring a number of new business models and noodling the future of Out-of-Home entertainment for several years now, and our current planning does include an 'upscale' restaurant with 'entertainment elements.'" - David Bishop, CEO of Namco Entertainment Inc.

Already happened with Orlando's Pac-Man cafe. It was awesome, until it closed. They had EVERYTHING, even Baby Pac-Man and Pac 'n Pal.

@jraics
Why? It's a gold mine for something Bamco will call "real life DLC". Just wait until you see how much DLC there can be available for a single drink. Or alternate costumes for the staff.

problem is that the restaurant business is HORRENDOUSLY competitive.

Possibly starting very close to home sweet home.

Put that money into localization!

Although, even if they did, many of those games aren't on Nintendo systems...

Not that I wouldn't love to go to a place like this, I just know how competitive the restaurant industry is. I think it would be more successful in Japan, like Capcom's Cafe, or whatever it's called. I also don't think they're a big enough game company to excite the masses. Maybe the big three console manufacturers could pull something like this off, but Namco Bandai? I dunno. We shall see.

Oooh! I live in Chicago! This could be fun, maybe like a Dave & Busters sort of thing? Well, it being Bandai-Namco, hopefully it'll be a hotspot for Smash Bros. Wii U tournaments.

Sounds interesting. As long as they give Pac-Man‘s Power Pellets as mints.
