Namco Bandai officially announced Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures for Wii U and 3DS

Check out more screens here and 3DS screens here

SAN JOSE, Calif., (May 14, 2013) Leading video game publisher and developer NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. is thrilled to announce that Pac is back! PAC-MAN™ and the Ghostly Adventures will be coming to North and Latin American retailers in fall 2013 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Wii U™ system from Nintendo with an exclusive side-scrolling version of the game coming to the Nintendo 3DS® fall of 2013. Built upon the timeless and wildly successful PAC-MAN® legacy, PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures will boast an entirely new and exciting gaming adventure that is currently under development.

PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures follows the exciting storyline and charming characters from the highly anticipated PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures animated series created and produced by Avi Arad, acclaimed director and founder of Marvel Studios. The animated TV series, based on NAMCO BANDAI Games’ classic PAC-MAN property, will begin airing on Disney XD®. The game revolves around the vibrant universe of Pac-World, where Pacworlders lived in peace until the mischievous Netherworld ghosts, led by their wicked leader Betrayus, escaped from their ghoulish domain to forcibly take control of Pac-World. Pac-World’s only hope lies in the last surviving yellow Pacworlder, our hero with a voracious appetite.

Not only will PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures feature a revamped PAC-MAN universe, but it will also hearken back to PAC-MAN origins with classic elements such as Ghost encounters. The Ghost-chomping mechanics return from the original PAC-MAN but with exciting powered up variations in PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures, creating an innovative yet familiar gameplay experience.

“The PAC-MAN franchise has touched millions of gamers and non-gamers since its humble beginnings more than 30 years ago,” said Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing and Digital Sales at NAMCO BANDAI Games America. “With its long-standing history, PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures emerges as a new and reimagined PAC-MAN universe that still retains classic gameplay elements that will appeal to a whole new generation of gamers.”

It doesn't look that great, tbh.

I also hope they include Pac-Man VS. It should have been on the eShop a while ago.

True gamers keep badmouthing all the grey colored gritty games with fire arm weapons released every month and say "why are third parties afraid of using COLOR on the games?"

Namco announces this.

True gamers say "pass"

It looked pretty cool to me, but not something I'd get till it's like $20 to be quite honest.

Yep, that's why we're rejecting it... the color scheme. Definitely not because this game has the stench of an early 2000's platformer where developers focused more on making big, expansive worlds than filling those worlds with things to do. Then again I could be wrong in thinking this is a platform game and instead it's an adventure game where you eat things. In that case the Munchables did it better. After watching the trailer a second time, this game really looks like a mix of Munchables eating, deBlob rescuing citizens and Superman 64's big empty cities.

I love it personally! I think it's looks fun. I never saw the PacMan World games though... so that's why it must feel fresh for me.
Also I LOVE old 3D platformers like Evil Twin and some others... Simple, a bit mindless, but so fun in the wrong way. xD

I like the style and the concept however it does look like it could use a bit of of extra polish, maybe a bit more flare to compete with the time frame they intend on releasing it in.

To be honest I loved Pac-man World 2. If this is as good as that game I might just be in! :)

This game lookst to be based off the new cartoon.

Proceed with caution.

This looks like a poor man's version of Pac Man World 2. Meeehhhh...

Also yeah it looks a tie in to the cartoon, which is even more reason to stay away from it.

Cool, this looks good to me, it reminds me of the Pac-Man World games(which were all great)! I think I might actually get this!

3D Pac Man has always been all right. I played Pac Man World 2 and kinda enjoyed it, despite its glaring flaws.

Pac-man for Smash 4.

I'm a fan of Pac Man, but this looks like shovelware. Put Pac Man CE DX on the eshop instead! Better yet, make a sequel.

Don't like the "chomp" sfx. Needs more wakka-wakka.

Looks interesting. And at least it's actually coming to Wii U. So I guess we can count Namco as one of the big publishers continuing to support the system. Hopefully that also means they'll release Tekken x Street Fighter on it. A new Dig Dug game after all these years would be pretty sweet as well.

Kinda wish for another Pac-Man Championship, but this looks...OK for now.

Okay, rewatching the trailer;

This not only looks to be based off the cartoon, it also looks to blend itself between The Munchables, Chameleon Twist and Iggy's Reckin' Balls.

Danger! For all ye who enter here.

Based on what they have shown so far, I am not that impressed. Nothing will best the originals.

Still, it wouldn't surprise me if this version of Pacman was in smash bros.

YES!!! Chameleon Twist!! Glad I wasn't the only one that remembers that game!!

From only this trailer, it looks pleasant, but seems repetitive and simple from a gameplay standpoint. Pac-Man TILT from the 3DS Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions was fantastic, so I have some hope that this can be good, and am very interested to see what the 3DS version is like.

Love that one of the "suits" reminds me of Chameleon Twist, too.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the press release says the 3DS game is going the 2D route. Could end up faster paced/tighter for it, too. Hope it's the Pac-Man TILT team.

I was SOOOOO hoping that they were going to do a Dig Dug game in that vein next, after Pac-Man and Galaga Legions were so awesome. But nope. How could they do old Dug like that?

I don't know, looks okay I guess. Maybe I'll get it if it's cheap, I don't see spending $60 on it though.

And since when does Pac-Man have teeth? I don't like the new design of Pac-Man personally. I like the older more simple design a lot better. Image

looks fun. Reminds me of late 90s/ early 2000s adventure games- a genre that is sorely missing from consoles these days.

Oh dear. Was it just me that thought it was Pac-Man Galaxy? More than a few familiar elements there, and it doesn't look even half as good as SMG.

I hope they don't release this next to Mario, otherwise it may just get steam rolled. Sure it will do a bit on the HD twins though......
