Dear Reader:
Sunday Wii success/failure stories
Today was filled with a bunch of retailers receiving Wiis. It seems that customers were once again swarming to pick the units up. Did you manage to get one today? Check out a few articles for some Sunday success/failures.
Opposable Thumbs: I showed up at my local Target at 7:10am this morning (they open at 8am) and saw a few people walking up to the front door to talk to two employees in red shirts. So I went up to the front door and they were handing out tickets.
These tickets would only hold you a Wii until 8:30am. After that time, they would sell whatever they had left on a “first come, first serve” basis.
I think I managed to get ticket #22 (out of 24?) — lucky me. I decided to wait around anyway. At around 7:35 - 7:40, people started showing up in droves and lining up at the door.
CrunchGear: According to Best Buy’s Sunday ad, each store would get a minimum of 20 Wii’s which is five more than what Kotaku had reported was the minimum. The maximum of 45 was correct, in fact lucky #45 was just some random dude who didn’t even know what the line was for until the Best Buy employee handing out the coupons gave him one.
Digital Podium: So I heard about Target holding Wii’s for today, Sunday, January 21st, 2007. It was 8:06 AM this morning when I called the first Target store in the Los Angeles area. This is how the guy answered the phone:
“Thank you for calling Target where we have already sold out of the Nintendo Wii, what can help you with today?”
