PSP shipments continue to trail DS in Japan
Anyone following the portable scene has known for a long time that the DS is doing much better than the PSP. In a phone interview from earlier today, Sony confirmed that PSP shipments are lagging behind DS shipments by almost 3 to 1. At the end of 2006, Nintendo had shipped 14.4 million DS units in Japan, whereas Sony shipped 5 million PSPs by the end of January. Sony is facing a similar situation with the PS3 in Japan. As of February 25th, the Wii managed to ship 1.69 million units compared to 700,747 for PS3.
