Iwata on 3DS first party support at launch, multiple titles ready for this year, Western support
The following information comes from Satoru Iwata…
- Nintendo sees the pack-in software on the 3DS as the equivalent to Wii Sports for Wii
- The reason there’s only Nintendogs + Cats at launch in Japan is to get more attention for 3rd parties
- Nintendo completed 3DS software even before they were done with Nintendogs + Cats, but these titles will be released later
- they have other software that will be sold this year, but hasn’t been announced
- the importance of handhelds in the West is downplayed, which makes it harder to get software support from here
- Iwata believes that importance will increase
- Nintendo is watching how the West reacts to 3DS as well as NGP
